Why the limit? If 30 people want it, why not do 30?

I mean, i agreed when the difference came up that i like one vs the other frankly. But i go to the bottom of the list because i didn't type it up not knowing that i'd have to later? I can't be the only one like that.

For what it's worth i say that as genuine question and not as a complaint, or anything else.

so 15 is arbitrary and we'll probably adjust or calibrate this on cost and how many actually want it.

but let me be transparent about my rationale:

If we assume the general run is copper, then we are left with disappointing the folks who DO want rose gold (I actually am personally among them).

So then the question becomes how to economically do both and SELL both.

If copper is true canon then the rose gold becomes a nice to have, and there will be less folks who want it vs the copper. So now we have to figure out how to make that a compelling offering to justify what most certainly will be a higher cost due to the smaller boutique nature of that offering and the pricier raw materials used.

The BIGGEST compelling way to do that is to set that offering apart by making it limited and exclusive. Because it being "absolute canon" is not the differentiator.

there is a "second kind of cool" that comes from being able to say "I own one of only X of these ever made."

I arbitrarily said 15 but that is just a number I threw out. The idea here is to make it a number that covers you all who've been supporting this from the start, while keeping the number small enough to achieve that exclusive nature.

I can't even be sure this is achievable in any sort of way yet until we hear back on costs and gold plating capabilities. But I suspect we can do it but it will be pricier. So we have to offset those costs somehow and still make it a compelling purchase for you guys.

make sense?

if we can do a rose gold offering, I assure you guys who have been loyal supporters of this since embarked will not be left without the hilt you truly want.

FWIW: the steel Solo's Hold Corran Horn is an example of this.

Sounds good, thanks for being so open about your considerations!

Either is fine with me. But, I'll be happy with whatever is more screen accurate. & if that turns out to Rose Gold, that's fine.
Thank you for your great work on this project!

I'm fully supportive of either option as well. I think I'd prefer to go the rose gold route...but I'd really like to see the two options side by side, if that's ever possible.

Any chance we could get a post with all the good photos in one spot to make some good comparisons?

Are you asking for all the prop photos on post like a research thread, or all the model comparisons? (Just so I am clear what you are asking)

I was thinking actual props so people could see the copper vs rose gold

Gimme a bit. That is gonna take some time to post all the photos in one place.
That goes for me too (y)
whatever is more screen accurate

Well, BRRogers and I are 100% positive the archive photos are copper.

Our sources indicate that it is the same prop seen on screen. But on screen it is "fresher copper" and lighting appears to make it look more red gold.

so depends on what you define screen accurate to be. The ACTUAL prop is copper.

what is shown on screen appears more rose/red gold based on the age of the copper and the lighting.

Our majority of the run will be copper. What we are assessing now is whether there is a strong enough desire for a limited number of rose/red gold.

It looks like there might be demand so we'll see on the feasibility of it now.

corliss1,

per your request.

Most definitely looks like plain copper to me, although ti seems one has a super high polish (last photo) and the recent promo shots are more naturally aged. Are you going to do a sealer of some sort to keep it from aging?

Yeah, i'd have to say it looks like plain copper except the vary last photo. I'm not sure if that's the raw un-edited screen cap, but it looks different than every other one i've seen quite frankly. Not sure if if it's the lighting or the reflectin of the brown cloth or what. it's weird, theoretically the photo above that is the same shot sequence, yet, the bottom one is MUCH shinier and more reflective. I mean, you're seeing damn near mirror finish on the copper/rose plating on the bottom one and it clearly isn't that on the others.

Those 4 screen shots clearly show: copper, copper, copper, and something different.
