Limited Run Dewy's and Anakin Starkiller's Qui-Gon Jinn lightsaber sign-up thread!!! PRODUCTION COMPLETE. Photos on pg 13

I'm not brave enough to try to replicate this

I might.

It should be reiterated that the one and only reason I’m even considering a repaint is because the difference between this and my Obi-Wan when placed side-by-side is pretty noticeable. My Obi-Wan has the satin sheen of a well-handled prop that’s been polished by wear and hand oils (as simulated by the recommended black paint, back during that run), whereas the Qui-Gon is very matte and factory-fresh in appearance.

But, in isolation, the Qui-Gon looks great, and I wouldn’t be running to tell anyone that they should repaint theirs. A light buffing with steel wool or a soft cloth would probably give it a nice sheen, if so desired.

Whew. Okay, stand down everyone. All of my sabers have now been delivered!

Two words regarding what you need to achieve the desired finish:

Woodoo Hide

(I can’t even type those words without giggling)

Just like they polished Vader’s dome with…:D

Why did you decide to paint your TPM, out of curiosity? Chatted with Dewy about buffing out some spots on mine, and then I may put a little sand on it and coat it up. Haven’t decided. Would likely do the same with this one.

So the reason I painted my OWK saber is because the original prop has a thick enough coat of paint that it dulls the sharp edges of each groove and angle on the black sections. It also had that slight satin sheen. I used about 3 coats of paint on mine and it gave me those nice soft edges.

You did really well, I very much like this, and it's encouraging for doing mine maybe. As mentioned, Dewy gave me some tips to maybe "polish" it up and maybe get a slightly better look for my taste, but your paint looks really good. Thanks for sharing :) I just may do this.

Thank you. With the obiwan hilt it was just the delrin which didn’t have paint on it. I used a universal bonding primer first and then satin black. My main concern with the Qui-Gon is that I don’t want to have an issue with whatever paint was already applied, as some of them don’t play nice with each other.

Yeah for sure I have that concern as well, but want them to match.

I have additional concerns because of the finishing marks on my QGJ as well. There are some machine markings, and bit of wrinkling in the fin grooves. Certainly want an accurate appearance, and I’m concerned I may not have the skills to even out all the surfaces in order to paint it cleanly. I also have some deep scratches and grooves in the ABS that I’ll have to try and smoothen out without impacting the shape of the ABS core.

Thanks for sharing the paint choices and such as well, very helpful and I do really like the final look you achieved. Lots of stuff to YouTube coming up lol.

Received mine today, absolutely stunning!!! I'll take pics soon. Thank thank you to Dan, and Drew for bringing this two hilts to life!!!

The post office almost lost mine, but I caught the mail person and we found the house he left it at! It is the second most beautiful thing I have ever seen... the first is still the Starkiller hero Obi Wan Kenobi Phantom Menace. They look incredible together.

THANK YOU so much for doing these!! It was worth the wait. You are my hero!!

Wow!! Thank god you found it!

Finishing off with 0000 steel wool on the shroud to randomize and matte it a bit (also used a dynamic file to blend a scratch along the side- but not everyone will have that issue)

Chemical coctail left to sit only a few minutes…

that looks awesome!!
I'm looking forward to receiving mine but I fear it's going to take forever, I'm not sure the global post thing is the same thing as ebay, but if that is the case, ebay stuff take more than a month to get here, so we'll see.

I don't believe they are the same

I want to personally thank dewy and starkiller on this one. I have seen what goes on behind the scenes to make this run happen

And to be honest, if it were me, I would have given up on the project a year ago..

To get shops to copy all this little details that can vary by .4mm/.6mm is wicked wicked difficult..

The dewy and starkiller team stayed focused and kept trying until they found the right place willing to go to this level of detail

And once the hardest part was over and these were in production they were hit with the tariffs..

It has been a incredible journey with this one..

Thank you guys, for not giving up, and bringing in a home run for us all!

The most accurate Qui-Gon Jinn saber in history!
Well said, Halliwax!!!! Big praise to these guys!! Personally, I hope the Starkiller Dewy team continues;) these two sabers are incredible!!
