Thanks sir!Gorgeous.
And you can see the difference in the sheen of the black sections on the Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. I assume you painted the Obi-Wan with the recommended Satin Canyon Black or something similar.
Thanks sir!
I actually didn’t. No paint!
That’s the original finish for the obi.
Maybe is the way the light is hitting it at the angle. Idk. Definitely did not paint it. Didn’t want to deal with the hassle. The raw delrin, eh? Still looks great.
Great display!Dan and Drew,
Thank you for bringing these sabers to us all! I still have no idea how I want to display everything, but these are simply stunning.

Mike do you mind sharing where you got that stand? I really like this setup
Is the “new” pbmodshop guy in Etsy. He has a new store name but has similar products. I haven’t seen this particular stand on there yet but this is the guy.Mike do you mind sharing where you got that stand? I really like this setup
This is why his shop isn’t coming up!! Thanks for the update! Is the “new” pbmodshop guy in Etsy. He has a new store name but has similar products. I haven’t seen this particular stand on there yet but this is the guy.
Is the ABS painted?Thanks!
It should be noted that this replica is absolutely, perfectly, awesomely fine just as-is. That said, the more hardcore among us will doubtless want to tweak it for weathering accuracy/personal taste.
Personally, I’ll probably lightly sand and smooth the sharp edges of the four cutouts on the aluminum body shroud, since I can feel them when handling the saber. And I’ll probably give the emitter plate a light sanding to simulate the belt-sanded look of the original.
And I may well buff the black paint, as suggested, or just repaint it with Satin Canyon Black for consistency with my Obi-Wan saber. We’ll see.
YesIs the ABS painted?
Why did you decide to paint your TPM, out of curiosity? Chatted with Dewy about buffing out some spots on mine, and then I may put a little sand on it and coat it up. Haven’t decided. Would likely do the same with this one.Received mine yesterday as well and it's beautiful.
I'm also considering painting it as well but mostly because I painted my Obi-wan hilt and I'd prefer them both match that paint sheen/texture.
If I do, presumably Rustoleum satin black is safe to coat over what's currently there? I can always use a universal primer if needed too.
Yeah I remember reading that. FLS89 painted his KENOBI TPM so I was kinda wondering why. I’ve been thinking of possibly doing the same to mine. And then possibly the QGJ to match. The Delrin that we used on OWK did not work for this saber because it was warping during machining. ABS was sturdier, but did not have the proper coloring once machined, so paint was necessary to match the original.

The black finish looks great to me. I’m leaving mine alone.
To give it that very slight satin look on the high spots (and I think the very slight satin look on the original is more from wear, and sweaty palms, than the actual Intended finish—I think you are spot-on with your assessment) I’m sure a rub down with 0000 Steel Wool would fit the bill.
