Limited Run Sign up thread for NEW Luke V2 light saber run. Spring 2018 edition (SIGN UP CLOSED)

Re: Sign up thread for NEW Luke V2 light saber run. Spring 2018 edition (SIGN UP CLO

The more I read this thread the more excited I get about receiving mine. Hopefully U.K. customs don’t decide to hold onto it for 2 weeks or anything of the sort.

I’m really liking the way that base layer looks 2 posts above this one.

Received mine today too, it's even better than I expected. Thanks Dan, I can't wait to start working on it

View attachment 812359Base layer commencing:
For one the machine lines are extremely easy to pull out with a fine steel wool or scotch pad if anyone gets theirs and is concerned.

The details put into this gain SO much depth once some darkness is added. The pommel cubes especially: really the primary reason I jumped on this run-look SO good once cleaned up and given some grimey love.

i just use a very basic matte black rattle can misting and quickly buff it off with steel wool in the high zones. If it’s too bright I spray again and use a one-step coarser steel wool (0000 to 000 for instance). Its not meant to be final just a step on the road to Trent’s stencils where I’ll use satin black enamels

Looks awesome! I love this thread!

Was it ever established how many of these were made?

Got mine in the mail yesterdat and am I the only person who is a little disappointed?not to bad mouth anakins work cause he did a great job designing this thing but this just isn’t for me.i feel like I got something closer to soloholds saber then the actual prop. I can not believe how light it is,it just doesn’t have the feel of the three piece. I really wish Anakin would consider doing a second run with the insides designed to match the actual prop. Also the top part of the neck doesn’t seem right to me. This and the shared stunts were casts from the same molds and although this was cleaned up ,the break In the neck should be very close to the same size as shared stunt, this prop is actually bigger and being that they were both the same that would be impossible. I would accept thinner but it couldn’t be thicker, but because of the threaded piece for the electronics accuracy was sacrificed.my favorite part of the three piece is showing people how the emitter comes off and the rod under is attached to a spinning motor. But this one does not have that function,it’s got a nice gimmick that replicated the spinning emitter but it’s really got no function besides “look this was a really cool design to mimic the spinning emitter but that’s as far as it does”I’m probly gonna be selling mine soon in hopes that one day I will own something that matches all we know about the prop inside and out and I hope Anakin doesn’t take offense to this post cause like I said this is an impressive design and for an fx saber it’s by far the best I’ve seen but im after something closer to the real prop and right now I still prefer my three piece.i was wondering if I’m the only one who feels this way or if there’s others that prefer the prop to be accurate inside and out.

I really wish Anakin would consider doing a second run with the insides designed to match the actual prop.

I've been following this thread from the start and have seen these messages pop up numerous times. Clearly you know exactly how the original prop was made, including how its internals are constructed - something I can absolutely guarantee you that no one else knows. You should consider making your own run. It would be epic.

Your right nobody knows exactly how the insides look but I can pretty much garentee it doesn’t look like this. I’m not saying it’s gonna be 100% accurate but we do have some info, and I’d rather have a prop that is as close to the original as possible.id bet money the inside rod that you can see at the top of the emitter is longer then a half inch.I’m not trying to start trouble or badmouth anakins work cause like I said it’s really good, but I’d prefer something that is closer to what we know about the prop. It’s never gonna be 100% accurate but I’d bet with all the info we got we could get it in the same ballpark, like I said I’ve never seen the inside but I’d fairly certain it didn’t have A part to hold a heat sink.im sure this saber made a lot of people happy, especially the Fx people, but I’m not an fx guy,I was just wondering if there are others that feel the same way.im hoping there are enough of us then maybe Anakin will think about doing a second run with a different interior.if not no big deal,I still got my three piece and that will be my v2. Im not saying this saber is bad,or I could do better ,I’ve bought every saber anakins made since I saw his work and there some of my favorite props,I’m just saying this particular one isn’t for me and maybe there’s other people who feel the same

This and the shared stunts were casts from the same molds

Pretty sure this has been debunked by people who have seen and held the actual v2 in person. The v2 was machined and not cast and cleaned up. Plus, only Brandon could say for sure what the interior details are like and he's not talking. Given that the v2 had to have room for the motor and other mechanicals bits for the spinning rod, then it had to be hollow to some degree. If you don't like the weight of this hilt, then add some. Its a hollow kit saber project for a reason. You can add your own flourish to it.

Seems to me that from the very start you knew that it was going to be an FX compatible hilt, so you knew what you were getting before even committing to it. It just seems strange that it would now come to you as a surprise that it’s not 100% internally accurate precisely because it’s FX. Of course it’s going to have a heat sink, again because it’s FX. Which was stated from the start.

Yes I did know it was gonna be fx compatible,I’m not complaining about that,I’m not trying to complain at all,I was replying to someone who said we have never seen the internals,so it can’t be accurate. My point was that although we do not know what was in there we can probly all agree it wasn’t a heat sink.im not trying to complain or bash anakins work cause i am a fan of anakins work. I’ve bought everysaber he made since I first saw his work and I’ll probly continue doing so. All I’m saying is I was expecting something closer to his previous sabers,I knew it would be lighter, but I didn’t think it was gonna be this different. I wanted to say my opinion on the saber and to see if anybody else felt similar. My hopes were that there were a lot of people like myself who want something closer to the actual prop and maybe if Dan saw a bunch of people saying they would defently buy another if he did a second run strictly for people who want something as close to the prop as we can get then maybe he would change his mind and do another. I’m not saying it’s a bad design,I’m not saying it looks bad at all,I just said it’s not for me,it’s my personal preference.maybe I’m the only one who thinks this way maybe I’m not, that’s why I posted something so I could find out. I did not want to say anything bad about the saber and I hope Dan doesn’t take it that way cause like I said I’m a fan of his work.i was expecting something a little different and that’s it.

As more of a static guy, I just plan to fill it with some small sand bags to add weight! Otherwise to me it looks spot on. Very happy with it!

I'd like the exact same thing, but we were presented with a choice: either buy this more-accurate exterior replica at the cost of the internals being fx-friendly, or be satisfied with previous not-so-accurate external replicas with internals a bit closer to the accurate prop (but not exact to the actual prop since no one knows that exact BA). I chose to go ahead and get this version.

And there's nothing that prevents any of us from trying to modifier the internals to be less fx-friendly and more accurate to the actual prop. I may try to do that once I unpack mine and look it over.

Btw, paragraphs, capitalization, and spacing separate us from the godless hordes that roam the barren wastelands of humanity. Just sayin'...
