Limited Run Sign up thread for NEW Luke V2 light saber run. Spring 2018 edition (SIGN UP CLOSED)

Re: Sign up thread for NEW Luke V2 light saber run. Spring 2018 edition (SIGN UP CLO

Is the emitter "wobble" accurate to the real prop? I've seen some people looking at ways to "fix" the wobble, but if it's intentional and accurate to the real V2 prop, I wouldn't wanna fix it.

It’s in the works I promise, I don’t want to release the info now, because this chemical can literally EAT the aluminum if not done EXACTLY to my instructions

I did some final tests today, 100% confident now. And wrote up some stuff today, I haven’t received my V2, but the second I do I will begin show and tell

The most important part of this tutorial is safety, so if you want to age it like this go out and get rubber gloves, a good set of safety goggles (not glasses, goggles covers your entire eye) and some dust masks

I'm scared. I'm already out, I'll hurt myself without doubt.

Lol, I’m kind of thinking the same thing. I get paranoid enough using aluminum black that I’ll poison myself - I’ll stick to more idiot-proof weathering methods :p

Maybe someone should send one to Brandon Allinger so he can do a side-by-side comparison. I'm quite curious how close we got with this replica! He's a sport, I'm pretty sure he would be willing to assist!

That is accurate, and I love it! Even the first generation V2’s dan made had the clanking. It’s a signature of the V2

If you see the behind the scenes footage of Vader and obiwan you should hear this sucker in action, it’s loud

I got mine today.
One week to germany? That is fast.
Thank you, Dan.

Mine has a very big gap, too. Nothing compared to the one I got from the first run.
But I think, I'll get the job done with some sanding.

Here's a comparison pic that Roy sent me of the new model against my old v2. I really love the weathering job that he did on it.

Whats the best way to go about installing the D-ring? Slicing a bit out?

Yes! That shipping went fast to Europe!
Funny detail: I ran out of levers, even for my own new V2!

I was going to note the irony...

I rolled it in my hand the way Mark Hamill did during Pop Culture quest and it felt pretty awesome.

Cant wait to see what youre using to darken yours. Ive never been happy with aluminum black, it comes off too easy and never goes on evenly, comes out looking more like paint than even darkening. And even my old leather dye technique can be rubbed off eventually, even easier with a clearcoat over it.

For one the machine lines are extremely easy to pull out with a fine steel wool or scotch pad if anyone gets theirs and is concerned.

The details put into this gain SO much depth once some darkness is added. The pommel cubes especially: really the primary reason I jumped on this run-look SO good once cleaned up and given some grimey love.

i just use a very basic matte black rattle can misting and quickly buff it off with steel wool in the high zones. If it’s too bright I spray again and use a one-step coarser steel wool (0000 to 000 for instance). Its not meant to be final just a step on the road to Trent’s stencils where I’ll use satin black enamels
