Limited Run Star Wars - Jedi training remote SFX aluminium box base

Hi guys. Is the RS921-3A a difficult part to find? What’s everyone else using as an alternative?
Finding a “vintage” RS921-3A is extremely difficult. I’ve been searching for years. I recently came across an industrial supplier selling it, but when I received it I realized it was a newer version without the classic Kearfott logo. So you can’t go by the model number alone, you have to have visual confirmation of what’s printed on the unit.

Here are two photos, the vintage appearance on an RS931-3E on the left, and a newer RS921-3A on the right.

Hey there,
here is progress for today :)

let's start with a short random video of machining the small line on the brass tubes:

all parts cleaned up and with the line machined:

now back to the death tool!

after this, we need to assemble the brass tubes with the ball bearing aluminium part. I have made a couple ball bearing projects as of late and those project come with their issues... I have bought several bunch of ball bearings and sometimes, they are just not to specs... The batch I bought for the first run worked nicelly, this time, there wasn't enough for the 12 boxes, so I bought 8 more from another supplier and those had too wide of an opening in the center, so, my brass tubes were not fitting at all.

So, here is a quick machining fun fact, knurling increases the diameter of a part, so lets knurl the base of the tubes so they fit the larger opening on the last 3 larger ball bearings!
and after destroying the first tube because knurling puts an enormous amount of pressure on the part, let's make a soft aluminium jig to hold the part securely...

here we go!

then, after doing an extra to replace the destroyed one and a bit of heat on the bearing, using the mill vice like yesterday, and daddy and mommy fit nicelly!
That means all the lathed parts are finished :)

those are looking pretty nice with the black line right were it needs to be :)

cheers all :)

Hey there,
not a lot of progress to show as i'm cleaning up the sides of each plates on the mill and putting them to size, so this takes time and there isn't much to see.
However, I have received the acrylic laser cut parts today, they are perfect, so that is one more thing done :)

cheers all

I am very much in for 1 base if there are any dropouts or an extra one by chance, thanks you. Please add me to a waitlist if one exists!
