Limited Run Sign up thread for NEW Luke V2 light saber run. Spring 2018 edition (SIGN UP CLOSED)

Re: Sign up thread for NEW Luke V2 light saber run. Spring 2018 edition (SIGN UP CLO

Just because the pictures of the inside have never been shared publicly doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Also doesn’t mean some people here haven’t seen them or shared/mentioned construction details of the original. Others may not know how it was built, but we certainly know how it was not built.

I gladly bought one of Dan’s from this run. I buy all his stuff, so that’s not a dig against him. He knows that, we’ve talked about it.

It’s in the works I promise, I don’t want to release the info now, because this chemical can literally EAT the aluminum if not done EXACTLY to my instructions

I did some final tests today, 100% confident now. And wrote up some stuff today, I haven’t received my V2, but the second I do I will begin show and tell

The most important part of this tutorial is safety, so if you want to age it like this go out and get rubber gloves, a good set of safety goggles (not glasses, goggles covers your entire eye) and some dust masks

Eagerly awaiting your instructions, the results look perfect!

The neat thing about Aluminum Black is that it will give that brownish muddy look of the original prop on the neck.

Does anyone know, or have a quality guess, on the approximate weight of the real V2?

i never saw a notice and I found a familiar white box on my porch yesterday! (Though I'm pretty close to Dan). I'm sure you'll get yours! I cracked the box but decided to hold off on unwrapping last night. One more day to fantasize before it's real! ;)

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. I’m still to receive my shipping notice as well, probably because I was one of the last ones to pay. I’m sure everyone will get theirs mate. :)

Re: Sign up thread for NEW Luke V2 light saber run. Spring 2018 edition (SIGN UP CLO

My square chunk doesnt go in tight enough without ending up in a crooked turn, so ill probably end up stripping the threads and gluing it in.

Also a part of me wishes there was ONE more set screw on the opposite side of the body L slot so that could be tightened without relying on the clamp.

Oh, and its GORGEOUS. I like having that extra FX emitter ring to practice warping before doing it to the real thing.

So I just got mine and started messing with it and it would seem you could still go about constructing the emitter spin the old way, with a rod and ballbearing without using any of the cone inserts. Am I wrong?

*EDIT:

It can be done! I used the steel cone still because without it the opening at the bottom of the emitter bell is much wider than the rod. But dont use the aluminum one. I inserted a cut steel rod, pushed a bearing through into the body, but had to use a rubber washer around it to keep it centered because the inner body of these is a larger diameter than the standard bearing. Then a collar lock and boom, done.

The added heft of the collar lock, bearing and steel rod also make it feel a bit nicer.
