Well. Lucas has said he wrote enough for the whole trilogy but could only film the first 3rd thus creating the need for a trilogy. I'm not saying he had all the detail like Vader being the father or Like and Leia being twins. But my point was the OT was planned as a trilogy since the first film. He wanted to make more. And the PT was planned as well too.
George was dreaming of doing more. At one time it was 12 films.

And what's so dang funny? Dinosaurs in Star Wars? Already been done.

Or that Star Wars isn't pro-war?

I dunno man, George did say that but I'm just re-reading the Rinzler books that follow the story/script evolution. ANH originally was indeed a lot longer and was cut in half. The Tantive scene would have been somewhere in the middle of the original treatment while the first half was more like the first half of Phantom Menace. Shortened and simplified, yea sure. Enough for a trilogy right off the bat, especially the way how the OT turned out? Wouldn't think so.

My point is he planned to make more and had the story outlined. But I didn't say it was fleshed out all from the start. I know a lot came after ANH was released.

I could write out a 200 word essay demonstrating how each point is ridiculously hilarious but you still wouldnt get or accept it, especially the not pro war joke.
For every George Lucas quote there's another one that contradicts it! He's probably the worst historian of his own work. ;)
They didnt have whiteboards in the 70`s.

Exactly, my point is that the story wasn't outlined. What seems to have been cut from the original treatment for ANH did not really get incorporated to ESB/ROTJ. His narrative suggests that he had the basis for the whole trilogy but the notes and script excerpts say otherwise.

"Chaos agents", like Siegfried?
"Arthurian Legends"

Oh you mean a roundtable faction of warriors that live by a moral code sorta like the Jedi KNIGHTS?! Or a nobody who receives a legendary weapon and becomes a hero like I don't know, LUKE SKYWALKER?! How about a Merlin type mentor like say Obi-Wan or Yoda?!

You don't have to wish for it you sweet kids. It's already been done.

I think I've said this before, but I can't tell you how much I hate whoever in the old EU decided that to talk while wearing a Stormtrooper helmet, you would flick a switch with your tongue to turn it on/off. We have mics that activate when you talk, NOW. It's just so stupid! At least Karen Traviss put some thought into how the Republic Commando helmets worked. It make more sense to blink at certain icons to change your display than to tongue kiss a bunch of switches in your helmet!

Having Exogul be a clone and decaying makes more sense since it necessitates the need to transfer essence and could be an explanation for why force-sensitives should not be cloned (and thus why Jedi were not cloned during the clone wars).

unfortunately, this reverts back to my first argument on why this ending was terrible. What is stopping Palpatine from coming back again with another clone? Or having a follower develop a clone for him. His spirit is still in the ether and Rey didn’t do anything different from Vader when killing him.

So when a being in Star Wars dies. Their spirit ascends to the Netherworld of the Force. A Force ghost is a person who has been able to return from the Netherworld on their own. Sith are unable to do this. However it is possible for them to prevent their spirit from ascending fo the Netherworld. I'm guessing this is what Palpatine did. I'd guess that this blue energy, is now meant to be Sith Alchemy.

As I recall we don't see this happen in TROS. So his spirit is most likely in the Netherworld. But we've seen in the Vader comic, that the Dark Side can open portals into the Netherworld.

So if there's some crazy Sith cultists with Palpatine's DNA, an incredible strong source of the Dark Side, and the knowledge how to do it. Nothing is stopping Palpatine's return. But without one of those 4 things, I'd say he's gone.

I'm gonna hazard a guess that they didn't think about it all that much, and just kinda threw Palpatine back in because "Wouldn't it be cool if..."

Most of JJ's stuff, I think, is designed with "Rule of Cool" in mind, and you come up with justifications for it afterwards. Or at most, he's thinking about purely what kind of emotional state people will be in after seeing it, rather than "But does it hold up to 5 seconds of critical thinking?"

After seeing 8 of the 9 numbered films none of this netherworld stuff means anything to me. I know people like to dig up obscure comic book and cartoon moments to explain the poor story telling but the vast majority of general audiences don't have that information. It really exemplifies how sloppily the DSW ST was made.
