Unlimited Run Deluxe Tron Disc Retrofit Kits

I did my disc trimming today, with expectations of the arrival of my Custom Green Full Retrofit Kit in a few days. I was a bit unsure of my skill with a Dremel, but my advice (as a semi-novice to the tool) is to pick a tab that is easy to reach.. test the speed and cutting form of your cutting disc, then just go slowly and don't go overboard trying to trim every last tiny fragment of plastic from the disc. The shell is very thin and you can easily cut right through to the external side if not careful.

My goodies came today!

Very impressive packaging. Meticulous and very well put together. Combined with the nicely detailed instructions tels me that this is the result of a very professional and class act.

If anybody is on the fence about this kit, jump down and order your self one.

You won't regret it

Got mine the other day. Like the detailed instructions and packing. Hope to have Rinzler's disc operation in a few. Let's see some pictures when folks get theirs done.

got mine last week and have been somewhat nervous to actually start cutting. well finally tonight i sat down and went through a lot of the dremeling. if it weren't for the amazing instructions I would have never attempted this. im really glad i got a kit. i hope to have one complete by the end of the week. :)

just finished my kit and I COULDN'T be happier!

I have some little things to fix at some point but right now it feels incredibly solid and great to hold and er throw? lol. Below are some really great pointers i learned when building my disc that I hope some of you may benefit from.

1. Although you should dremel the unnecessary parts of the disc, i found it really easy to use my needle nose pliers to gently tear off the unwanted plastic. doing so leaves a really smooth clean-cut mark.

2. removing the inner C ring was really easy without having to dremel from inside. I use my Flathead and GENTLY force each section where the little LEDs were to push the plastic ring out from outside. do that carefully holding the disc, and it pops out piece by piece. it made dremeling a lot easier afterwords.

3. i decided to only use one battery and one swtich for both lights. although it works, the inner C ring is somewhat dim and doesn't light up as well. however, i did use just one switch to power both lights and its running from the two 12v batteries and works perfectly. i didn't want to cut another hole onto the disc which was great.

really happy i bought this, being my first project of the year I actually had fun building this step by step. so rewarding. Thank you Soulinertia for a great kit!!!

"I'll shut up now" lol

So, probably a dumb question, and I am sure you are sick of hearing. But if I order in the very near future, which looks like week 6, how long of a turnaround?

I'm getting faster and faster as I put these kits I put together. I'd estimate no more than 3 weeks.

I got mine just before a weekend trip so haven't been able to do much with it yet (maybe tomorrow night). I'm curious though - why thermoplastic and not some more rigid resin? You'd not have the fiddling with the heating up and making sure it stretches into the right size then...

Not complaining... just curious :)

Simple really, it's more impact resistant than resin and far less brittle. It's also much more pliable which comes in handy when installing the "C" ring. (It can take some finesse to work into place) It also cures in only 10 minutes as opposed to the 2hrs or more that resin takes. But the main beneficial feature is the light dissipation! A clear resin can't even come close.

You helped make it so SI.. for that, myself and I am sure everyone here, thank you. I will be placing another Full Kit Custom Color order in the next week or two I think. A friend's birthday requires a white disk with green lighting. :)

The Custom Green/Green Full Retro Kit SI has made for me is really impressive. The Outer Ring ends up being dimmer than the Inner Ring but the effect adds an interesting effect of section-to-section color and brightness. The Inner Ring, especially in pics, is VERY bright. I tried the disc in a 'nightclub light setting' and the thing lights up an easy 4-5ft radius when placed just above hip level and aimed towards the ground.
