Re: 40" 1/2 ISD scratchbuilt (progress shots) 08/29 Primer !

Its mind blowingly good. When I grow up I want to make models like that... well, I must learn to make models like that. Superb work.

Re: 40" 1/2 ISD scratchbuilt (progress shots) 08/29 Primer !

Re: 40" 1/2 ISD scratchbuilt (progress shots) 08/29 Primer !

I sure wish we could talk you into moulding this baby when she's finished. We're all just gonna hate you if we can't get one too. :)

Re: 40" 1/2 ISD scratchbuilt (progress shots) 08/29 Primer !

No way. This model deserves to be a one-of-a-kind. It's alright to do a model and NOT kit it. The one person on this board that deserves a model this beutiful is Mr Tox.

Re: 40" 1/2 ISD scratchbuilt (progress shots) 08/29 Primer !

Agreed. Something this breath taking can only come from a man on a mission - and by god, it's a mission accomplished!

Mon Dieu, it's full of stars!!

Re: 40" 1/2 ISD scratchbuilt (progress shots) 08/29 Primer !

"Impressive, most impressive... " great artwork man!!!

Re: 40" 1/2 ISD scratchbuilt (progress shots) 08/29 Primer !

Isnt this SS?

You want the thread moved?

Cause this is mind blowingly good. Easily one of the nicest pieces on the entire forum! Im in awe!

:eek

Its soul destroying that this pinnacle build is in the general section bro and not in studio.
She's just amazing, gorgeous, sexy im running out of words lol.
This now is the benchmark that ALL ISD builds will be measured from, i know the amount of time you put into her so far bro, the passion and anguish from the fall she had a while back, and still you have perservered and created something not many can or ever will!
Your a damn fine buddy Julien and your talent is mindblowing :)

bests.....lee.

Re: 40" 1/2 ISD scratchbuilt (progress shots) 08/29 Primer !

It's not studio scale. It's about half or so compared to the original he's depicting.

Re: 40" 1/2 ISD scratchbuilt (progress shots) 08/29 Primer !

this is the most wonderful built i've ever seen!

Re: 40" 1/2 ISD scratchbuilt (progress shots) 08/29 Primer !

All I can continue to say of Julien's work is that he is a true prodegy of this artform! :D

I have had the personal honor of both meeting Julien's wonderful family and viewing this 41 inch beastie in person. One thing I can say is that even these awesome pictures don't really tell the tale of how AMAZING this piece is! It truly took my breathe away for a few moments!

Your work continues to impress the world Julien! This piece will be great in an exhibition! (y)cool:thumbsup

Of note:

The current project of Randy Coopers, upon my last conversation with him afew days ago, is of the SS size of the Ep IV originally seen SD. (My personal favorite due to it's first seen "crawling overhead nature"! ;) ) However, Randy's will be like Juliens in the fact of it being done as the more deatiled Ep V "Avenger". So, basically getting the best of both worlds. In that respect, Julien's is just about SS anyway in my humble opinion.

Re: 40" 1/2 ISD scratchbuilt (progress shots) 08/29 Primer !

Wow thanks for your words guys ! Im very glad you like it :)

Hehe yes Kurt :D The Devastator would have probably been my favorite if I had seen ANH first too :D But The first Star Wars Ive ever seen was TESB :D Anyway thanks for your coming to take an expert look at it ! I hope youll go back again to see it finished one day ! :)

Well, all I can say is it looks ASTOUNDING. :love:love:love

I’m no detailist so I really can't tell what size the spines need to be, but if they are different, don't worry, I think it may even be fortuitous, as when you add the rest of the detail, the different sizes will make it look (and photgraph) better and I think will enhance and give better depth and feel to the whole thing.

It looks great to me, and in these new views, already, I can hear the mass of engines humming by, and probes being launched from that bay.

Excellent, excellent, excellent (y)thumbsup:thumbsup

Re: 40" 1/2 ISD scratchbuilt [Close to the end...] updates 09/21

It's really coming along now!

Do I sense completion before the year is out? (y)thumbsup:thumbsup

Re: 40" 1/2 ISD scratchbuilt [Close to the end...] updates 09/21

I have an exhibit in November. Unfortunatly it would not complete at this time :( But yeah, the plan is to finish it before the end of the year ! If I can get info about the color from Lorne Peterson, nothing would stop me ! :love

Thanks Bob :)

Re: 40" 1/2 ISD scratchbuilt [Close to the end...] updates 09/21

I never saw something like this before and guess never will. A ISD would be THE one dream I would love to add to my collection but I do have such talent to build my own and your work is second to none.

I wish something like this would ever be able to purchase ... you got me sitting here with an open mouth ... this model is a beauty and I can't wait to see your finished project !

Wow ! :eek

Re: 40" 1/2 ISD scratchbuilt [Close to the end...] updates 09/21

Outstanding!

FWIW, I think Dust and Antique are far too warm. When I saw the ANH SD in person it was pretty darn white.

If you don't like Reefer White, then maybe base coat with that and then the finest of oversprays with the Antique?

Re: 40" 1/2 ISD scratchbuilt [Close to the end...] updates 09/21

Remember that weathering is added over the reefer white and that will darken it up considerably!!
