Interest Indiana Jones raiders pocket knife

I’m interested if it’s not too late to sign up!

I’d vote for accuracy so resin grip, but that’s just me.

I'm good with either one, assuming that the brown paint/dyes in the resin are semi-permanent and won't rub off. If resin means a display piece with limited handling only, then I'd prefer the natural stag. I'm the type that definitely goes for accuracy, but I will almost always somewhat sacrifice that to have something look/feel/act like a real world object

Also quick question- are resin grips more/less prone to cracks over time than natural materials? Sometimes I see older knives with hairline cracks on the side and was just curious if one is better than the other.

Due to unfortunate circumstances I am gonna have to pass on this, but I look forward to seeing it come to life.

Those 200 years old knives have the reply: if you want the highest durability, go for stag.

I'd be very interested, as long as the blade length doesn't exceed 15cm? Since Japan has rather tough laws on the import of blades with longer than 15cm bladed sections.. If you could check that for me? I would probably be in for one too!

I may go for either R or S depending on a couple of things.

1. Durabilty of color. I'd prefer a real knife capable of EDC, not just a prop. Sounds like the metal portion will be that. If resin handles are painted, how durable will the painted finish be? In other quality resin handle knives, is the finish painted on or cast in? I don't recall ever seeing one with a flaking, peeled or scratched up finish on the scales.

2. Price. What are we looking at as a cost difference between the two?

When I have these answers, I can provide my vote. Thanks for your perseverance on this project!

I would be interested to sign up if not to late.
I would prefer accuracy to the screen used prop, so resin.

No change in price, I was thinking about integrating colors directly inside the resin, I already tried this, it's not bad, better than paint, and more durable.

That being the case I could go either way. Slight preference for real stag but as long as the handles aren't painted and look good I could find that acceptable.

Looking forward to your build updates with interest. I've got an early Linder stag which was as close as I could find a few years ago & although not screen perfect is really close. I understand it was HF's own pocket knife that was used in the scene so very likely some years old at that time.

Please look at post #20 and #66
I can know the amount of interest for one of those options:

-natural stag handle, accuracy and design variation, due to irregular material
-resin handle, designed to match the original prop as much as possible

The sale price is 150€ plus shipping, from about 15(Europe) to 34€ (US)
Each knife from the run will bear hand engraved number, we gan go up to 100 knives, as long as items are not shipped.
Once run will be officially closed, the price will be raised, and knives won't get numbered, but don't worry if you came too late, I may have some knives in stock, as 100 will be made.

Here is how I wish to proceed for that run:
-get te prototype machined [DONE]
-finish prototype, and share on the group.
-if any mechanical issue, reword it if needed.
-once all is ok, ask for payment of the knife cost (150€), paypal fees added (EU located, Euro currency), without shipping cost, you will specify you RPF ID as message on paypal, so I can edit status here.
-I get all the metal parts done, also order the stag and other materials.
-I finish all knives
-I ask for balance, meaning shipping cost depending on location, you specify the address and username
-knives are shipped
-once you get it, hoping you will be happy, you can share it on this thread if you want

After some searches I discovered some facts about that raider pocket knife.
-it's not a Linder
-It's not a Hubertus
-it's not sourcable anywhere, new or old.
-the bolster is stainless and has no grooves
-the rivets are steel
-the handle is fake stag
-the blade shape is different from any existing knives I saw, especially the base
You can see the colors on this 4K screenshot, notice the bolster shape and color, rivets, stag handle, blade shape:

The stag is not grinded to match the bolster, rivets color and position, closer to linder than hubertus, but color doesn't match any of them, both have brass rivets.
I recently learn the Linder blade size, which would be 1cm smaller than my blade, which I designed based from those pictures.
Bolster is plain like the Linder, and made from stainless, unlike hubertus, which has a german silver bolster
Blade shape especially base doesn't match any of them.
The fake stag is not like any of them, but I have seen this material on vintage knives made in Thiers, I will ask some knifemaker friend to show me some examples.

Brand new to this. Have been looking for a decent Raiders knife for years. Can I get in on this too. Stag scales for me!
