World War Z (Pre-release)

A direct copy from book to film would have been a lot better personally and would have had a documentary feel. I think the makers just wanted the title and turn it into a gore fest.

I'm not a zombie or a horror fan but loved the book. One of the most entertaining and thoughtful books I've read in a long time. as a few others have noted it really was about the people and not the zombies. More importantly it looked at the social, economic and military impact of a zombie apocalypse. Hell, the chapter where he interviews the (equivalent) of the Secretary of Homeland Security on how he put the country on a war footing was fascinating....and more importantly a fresh take on the genre.

This was the first time I was ever excited to see a zombie film and now...yeh, not so much. The miniseries approach would have worked MUCH better.

I also like how they talked about the ecological effects of the disaster too with cities burning out of control and how the threat of the zombies is still around even though the worst is over.

Totally agree. If someone wanted to do show to compete with the walking dead, this would have worked perfectly.

Definitely a better trailer than the first one. I'm still going into this with extremely lowered expectations.

I can't get my hopes up. This movie has none of the charm or any other of the numerous things that made the book so good. They could have filmed it like it was in the book and it would have been great.

I think half of the problem is the title. If they had called it "Zombie Apocalypse" I would be more forgiving. This is almost like, "Hey, here is a zombie movie that just happens to have the same name as a zombie book." Then you just have to put up with super speed zombies and weird continuity issues like being in a traffic jam and suddenly a cop gets hit by a speeding truck.

This is one time doing stuff with "found footage" and shaky cam would have been good for the interview flashbacks. I bet other than the title there is nothing to do with the book.

Instead of watching what will be a crappy film, I'd pay money to sit in a theater and watch Brad Pitt explain how they are "breaking new ground" and doing a 180 on the tone of the book..now that's entertainment folks!!
"The book focused on slow zombies," Pitt, 49, tells Entertainment Weekly about the movie based on a bestselling novel by Max Brooks. "We chose to be more dynamic in that we wanted to base all of this on science," he explains. "So it's 'What if we had them move like ants? Or a swarm of bees? Or birds or a school of fish that’s being chased?' One of the first [questions] we asked was how to portray the zombies and how to do it differently because it's been done so many times and been done pretty damn well."
ah yes...based on the science of fast zombies...:facepalm:facepalm

My apologies ahead of time and I understand if this post is edited but but this is another sad indication of how Hollywood (and by extension businesses in America) are selling out for a global buck. We change a plot point here, allow Chinese censors to dictate changes there. Granted, films are a group effort. There have always been changes to scripts, casting, directors, due to outside influences and of course censorship rules governed by authorities within the U.S.
It sure as hell looks like this country is in bed with a Communist regime with an atrocious human and animal rights record because Americans can buy cheaper clothes and we want them to watch out movies. It's a damn shame. :facepalm

Sadly money talks and overseas our movies do way better than here at home so they're tailoring them to the audiences over there. The least they could do is make versions for over there and give us the originals.
