WIP Cooper Star Destroyer with Fiber Optics

Still looks very nice lit up!

I see the point about weathering and the scale just not registering it...

Hi barney five,

BGeautiful build-up! I am asking this as I finally broke down and bought one! What is the size of the t track that you used? Or is it HO scale rail track?

Thanks for any help,

Evan

firstly, thanks for all the nice comments guys !

made some more progress over the weekend. have begun detailing the deflector shield domes with some brass T track.
since the diameter of the bottoms is bigger now, i had to mill out the old rings on the bridge and made new ones.
i had the luck to find a part from an old tamiya kit which had a ring in a exact fitting diameter.

and today i built up and wired up the engine area !

Holy necro-post, Batman!

Great Line:lol::lol::lol: It "ROFL´D" me a lot ;)

Ok, reviving my own old necro Thread is allowed, i think, no?

To be honest, i never finished the Model for almost 11 Years now!
The Star Destroyer stands in semi finished state in our living room all the time.

Other things in life became more important, and to be honest my SD model had suffered one major issue, that i wasn´t sure i could solve it.
It kind of ruined the whole model somehow for my feelings.

Something geometrically went wrong with the Engine Area. I built it as per Randy´s advise with Parts "Top" and "Bottom" written on the Resin parts.
But in the End, the upper triangular Engine "backwall" protuded out of the Upper main Hull plates by aproximately 5 millimeters.

I have seen that Issue on most of the Randy Cooper SD builds:
(sorry, photos are third party since i havent photographed the Issue on my model)

The only way to solve this the easy way is to grind off a significant amount of resin material from the upper triangular engine backwall, and to try to blend inaccuracy with alot of putty and sanding.
A very unpleasing solution for my taste.

The other way would be: removing the whole engine assembly with brute force (it was glued in bulletproof with ALOT of superglue)
...one major challenge, i never had the balls to try for all the years, afraid to destroy the whole Destroyer;)

But if i ever would re-animate my love for the model, it had to be done somehow.

I managed to hacksaw, dremel and break out the whole engine assembly as one piece and was able to fit it back in the model, an half inch deeper as before.
Now the parts are glued in upside down. Top is now bottom, and bottom Top, dont know if Randy has written it wrong on the parts, but as said before, many Cooper Star Destroyers show this problem.

Better now:

Also fitted and glued on the outer Thruster Rings.
