Interest Veracity Labs - "The Princess" (Leia lightsaber) hilt Interest Thread

I'm interested. Thanks. Looking forward to what you come up with regarding the emitter (pixel blade wise).

I need to finish impact simulations but here is a down the barrel shot. A very low profile pogo pixel holder should fit in there... it is based on Shtok's LP holder.

obviously this is subject to change based on what the stress simulation results yield.

Seen this? (I would like to brag about calling that belt clip back in January!)

given the switch is not visible it is on the opposite side somewhere. And given that, the clip would be in view somewhere.

it is also confirmed the Tatooine shots were filmed early. So it is one of two possible situations: 1.) multiple props, a hero and a belt hanger or 2.) the clip was added subsequently after the tatooine shots.

If there were indeed at least two versions, I'm wondering if one was copper (the belt-hanger seen in the recent Lucasfilm video?) and one was rose gold (the hero seen wrapped in a cloth in the scene above?) That might also explain why we've heard both material types mentioned.

Also, if we go with copper (rather than rose gold), isn't the copper surface going to age like an old penny over the long term? Should we plan to top-coat the copper somehow to prevent that natural aging?

I have been thinking... wouldn’t it have been easier for the props department... or even in the movie easier for Rey to add a hook onto her belt instead of adding a clip on to the saber? Ahahahaha

Yeah it is possible there are two props. If we do go with copper vs Rose Gold it would age without a top coat yes.

There's such a slight difference in those colorations, even a few degrees of worth in the color timing process would alter the color we see onscreen from reality. I'd say the new video is likely shot more straight forward with available light, and can have it's white point determined... but of course I never trust when Lucasfilm says something is screen-used. :)

Accuracy is the biggest priority of course, but I will say as a personal preference, definitely more excited about a color closer to the film over the copper look in the recent video.

Same, it's actually a little bit disappointing seeing the more generic copper colour in the real world, compared to the colour as seen in the movie. The rose-gold was really quite exciting.

Ok. New overlay of Exhibit A (where you DO see some discrepancies if you can spot them I think is due to perspective skew as other overlays show not the same discrepancies).

Also as BRRogers mentions. We have devised a quite clever hidden AUX switch solution.

also bonus. None of the inlays are held in with glue. EVERYTHING in this hilt is mechanically locked.
