Limited Run Vader stunt sabers kits! Barbican, Severed hand and ANH square shroud version

I’m watching this thread and the writers/actors strike simultaneously….

I need some cash flow stat!

Hey there,
managed to do all the activation greeblies today, they are raw, still need a bit of sanding and polishing in some places but I am happy with the technique I found to clean them with alcohol and a paint brush. This avoids the shiny spots I had inside the box on my prototype and gives a more uniform result.
still moving forward!

Hey there,
all different sizes of grips are cut for the finished sabers, as well as the short grip glued at the front of the Square shroud and Severed hand versions :)
that was a lot of grips to cut!
Did you make a jig to cut the edges so easily?

Yes sort off, I attached a vice to my good old circular saw and put a depth stop for each size and cut cut cut. Same for the 30 degrees angle. It took a lot of time because of the huge amount of cuts to do, but it was very easy and consistent :)

Hi there again!
another cool update, for the people that will get the finished sabers from me, I received the activation cards from Brad at Slothfurnace!
they are perfect :)
Those are the vintage finish on both sides with a slight upgrade :) Brad and I discussed how the vintage cards are pretty shiny and he went the extra mile and polished the gold traces slightly for the run :)

sorry, I was excited for this and snapped a few quick photos and they are not the greatest...

here is a comparison with the previous card I was using on the left. The new card, on top of having the correct traces and one thick trace, is thicker like the original the gold traces have an extra thickness as well that is also closer to the original card, the edge catching the light nicelly, and yeah, the polished gold, although subtile, adds a very nice something to it :) :)

cheers all!

So happy you are pleased with the cards!

You know, I've been making cards for sabers for fifteen years now, and with each one I think to myself... "If it's not good enough for my own saber, my customer won't be happy with it." I know it took a little longer, but every one of these I made sure was as good as I could possibly make it. I hope you all enjoy them!

Thank you again so much for your help Brad, this is the cool additional detail I was hoping would be possible to have when I started this run and I'm glad it was possible to get accurate cards specially for this saber :)

They do look great! The kit folks need to purchase the card separately, right? Which option should we select on your website to get ones like these?

Hello there,
I am currently working on trying to finish all the body tubes without cutting more fingers! it's a process... But it's moving forward.
I have 51 finished, this is the last step for the square shrouds sabers!
and yes, we can't see anything, but that way they stay perfect! :)

I am sorry again for the delay!
I'm sorry for the slight off topic but I need to get some stuff off my chest and people here are basically everything to me so here it goes, I don't want to do into too much details, but I had to bring my wife to the ER at the end of last week in the middle of the night, her heart was acting up. For now, the doctors are saying probably because of stress and fatigue, and hopefully it's just that. But it's not fun! it's been tough on me as well and I have clearly calmed down on the crazy hours to be with her a bit.
My wife, Julie, Wonderknight here, has been working so hard on her projects for the same time as me and she is having such a hard time getting ANY success, despite the crazy work she's putting in and the awesome collectible objects she is creating. It's crazy to me that all she gets for all this hard work is a trip to the ER! I don't want her to give up on her amazing work and i don't want her to get herself sick because of stress either.
If you want to support her, here is some of her latest work:
and our latest grouped project:
her website: www.wonderknight.fr

The sabers are coming! they are delayed and it's been hard work, but they are coming and they will be awesome :)
cheers all :)

Hi there,

Square shrouds sabers update:
I have finally finished turning clean all those tubes without shaving off any other finger chunks! it was definitely the least fun part of that run and the most complicated in the end...
I am working on all the holes on the tubes now and the Square shroud saber kits should be ready to be released ina few days for the people that were on the list only for those :)

next, Barbicans and severed hand:
I am stuck with the plastruct small domes for the Barbicans! I thought the plastruct website was shipping internationaly and was waiting to have a bit of money coming in before placing that last order for the run. I realized a few weeks ago that they don't ship outside of the US and have been trying to find a solution since then!
I have reached out 2 times already in the past couple weeks and they are not replying to me. It seems they changed owners and i have no idea if they are not interested in replying to my equiry as i'm in France or if they just don't see the emails.

There is also a website called Plastruct | International Supplier of Architectural, Educational and Hobby Model Parts that seem to be the international side of plastruct but all contact infos are the same and the copyright info is from 2016 at the bottom of the pages, so I'm not even sure they still check that website!

I have found only one good supplier in Europe (the French supplier is terrible) which is EMA models in the UK and am in touch with them, but they only have black domes so it is on hold for now. The idea was to be completely accurate and get white domes that people could paint black and weather. I could go with the black ones but that would be idealized.

So, if someone knows how to get in touch with those guys or know if they are even still opperational, feel free to reach out to me.
depending on how things turn out, I will idealy be able to place my order directly from them or need someone to help me place the order and forward it to me, or I will have to order black ones from the UK supplier. Always a last minute problem!

cheers

quick update,
as often when you finally talk about an issue, it magically moves forward at the same time! by some dumb luck, I finally got an answer to my mails to Plastruct few minutes ago, they agreed to exceptionaly ship internationaly for me because of my urgency and that they know no one is going to have those in stock :)
i'll keep you guys posted, but hopefully this is resolved :)
cheers

eethan let me know if you still have any issues with the plastruct parts. I’ve dealt with them a couple times and worst case, would also be happy to receive the parts and forward onto you
