Made just like the originals, from access to original parts.
Made of thin aluminum sheet which has been cut, bent and curved in the same manner as the New Hope R2s.
Separate vent bars will be included with accurate trapezoidal cross section. I intend to supply the bars loose to make painting easier, but if there is enough interest, I could offer them attached for an additional fee. This would make masking and painting a bit tougher though.
Here is an example of what you'll get.
Outer dimensions will be made to match CSR specs, but can be easily trimmed, filed or sanded by buyer to Legacy or custom sizes.

I intend for this to be an ongoing run. Sets should be be ready to send out within two weeks from when I accept your order. I will pause accepting orders if demand is too high to avoid long delays, but we will see how it shapes up. I'm just trying to be as up-front as possible.
These are hand made, and will have minor variances, just like the real things. I will make them as clean and tidy as I can, but inevitably there will be little differences.
I had first hand access to original R2 parts because I was a model maker in the ILM modelshop for almost a decade and a half, and a concept model maker for the Star Wars Prequels. We refurbished all the R2s from the archives during the prequels to make them ready for use in the new films. During this time, myself and a few other model makers began building R2s of our own.
