saberforge reviews?

anyone have any new reviews on saber forge? hopefully from November 2015 to current. i have heard bad things about them, mostly from the customer service side. im looking to get one of their ASP sabers and want to make sure i got my facts straight. while we are at it how about a list of saber builders with web site links, price range, quality, personal opinion and customer service rating (5 star rating system). if anyone offers custom services please feel free to list it here as i have a couple custom designs i want done.

From what I am hearing the quality of the parts coming out of the ASP system is not so great and a lot of orders (when they do finally ship) are being sent out with the wrong pieces.

People have waited a long time and aren't getting what they paid for. Which is par for the course for them.

There is a reason that SF is banned from all of the major saber forums.

The only one they aren't banned from is the one they had to create once they ran out of places to sell.

My apologies to the admins if this isn't allowed, but I suggest checking out some of the following links:

www.ImperialRoyalArms.com

www.FX-Sabers.com

https://www.facebook.com/groups/190917724397776/

Some of the best saber builders around can be found in those three spots.

i can kinda understand the wrong parts thing and have heard about that myself. with as many orders as he got mistakes were bound to be made. as for the saber forums can i get a list of those too please?

What would really make me happy is if anyone in the traverse city michigan area has a lathe that i can work on to turn my own. btw saber forge so far has been doing good talking to me, they respond quick enough to make me happy. not sure if anyone else is getting the same treatment though.

The links I gave you will take you to two of the largest saber forums and one of the largest saber FB groups (not run by SF).

As for the customer service, I couldn't say, I stopped talking to them after the owner threatened me.

I CAN tell you that their electronics installs are still subpar and prone to issues and some of their hilts are known to break, or have extremely sharp edges that cause injuries.

i already planned on putting my own boards and lights in and as for sharp edges i can take care of that. im waiting for the ASP system to go live so i got lots of time to decide :)

Honestly, I'd highly recommend going thecustomsabershop route if you're planning on doing your own thing. Tim is great, you'll get the parts you ordered, in a timely manner, and have a great customer service experience along the way, and If tim doesn't have what you need, he'll work with you to make it happen... and you won't be threatened with a lawsuit for discussing any QC issues like saberforge does.

My much loving mother sent me a 'lightsaber' for my Bday. She says a guy from AZ stands outside of Disneyland selling his wares. It looks like a saber forge basic model with a green blade. Its heavy and aluminum. So thats a plus.

I bought a simple LED from them, and they sent it to me mixed with the wrong colors. Not only that, it took 5 weeks to get here. So if that doesn't say everything you need to know...

I'm mixed. I have a Luke ROTJ hero which I think looks great, but the switch broke almost immediately after I received it (after almost 6 months of waiting). That being said, I haven't personally had bad interactions with SF, but I've seen a lot of reasons why people don't like/trust them, and think they're totally valid based on the evidence.

SaberForge's reputation speaks for itself.. (banned everywhere.. theft, no shipping of orders, wrong orders shipped.. and all done with a hefty does of STFU if you dont like it!)

I also recommend TCSS (The Custom Saber Shop) as a place to start...

they are the ORIGINAL saber parts mix-n-match outlet (termed MHS: Modular Hilt System).. that Hampton/SF and others are trying to duplicate (ie: rip-off IMHO)

Tim (owner of TCSS) has a FLAWLESS reputation IMHO...

www.thecustomsabershop.com
www.fx-sabers.com has a big community, but (again, IMHO) mostly supports their 'inner circle'
www.vadersvault.com if you are looking for a CUSTOM piece/hilt.. (not cheap, but quality)
www.imperialroyalarms.com - nice decent community, not connected to a store or anything.. so its really a place looking for help/knowledge or to commission someone to do the work for you

What you are looking fro might help dictate where you start your adventure.

I've been reluctant to order from SF. Shame because the ASP thing is attractive at least on the surface. I'm hopeful all that will shake out. But the negative experience and long wait time keep me away.

I've order twice from Ultrasabers and I'm satisfied with their product. Will use them again. The long wait times have become a peeve to me though. I understand why, don't get me wrong - I'm just too impatient.

I'll echo the previous: The Custom Saber Shop is tops. I've never waited very long for product or replies, the quality is top notch. They just relocated to a new facility though, so supplies are short on many items, but for them I'm happy to wait.

My advice, avoid saber forge like the plague. Ordered one saber from them. Never again. Everything everyone has already said is true. Rude, condescending, and will blame any issues on you. There are plenty of good sabers makers that will at least treat you with respect and send you what you ordered.

Wow, that was nasty, and i only read 3 pages. I'm newish here, but it seems Solo's Hold has a decent reputation and is usually spoken highly of. SF always seems to draw controversy.

After reading those few pages, i have to sratch sf off the list.

the more i learn , the more I apppreciate those on the forums that put their time, effort and talent into custom daber runs. Though usually more $$$ than i can afford, I think in the future its the way i will go.

I started putting $25-$50 from every paycheck into a fund for props, that way I've got the cash when The run I want opens

Solos Hold does amazing work! I have his Han ANH belt tools and they are one of my favorite pieces. The only other thing I have from him is his Greedo Killer kit, and its another of my favorite's, The level of craftsmanship is second to none. I already have a Luke v2 but Im really debating picking up one of his.

I can't really comment about SF, but based on some of the things I have read I have chosen to stay far away.

Did you pay by credit card? If so contact sf and tell them you are cancelling and if they don't give you a refund tell them you will dispute the credit card charge and then when you dispute the charge claim non receipt of goods purchased.
