Rocketeer Cirrus X-3 Rocket Pack Build

Nice weather means it's Garage Season! I'm finally back in the swing of things again and got all the rivets installed. I love the look of this thing and even though the center piece is off by a few rivets, it bothers me less and less as I near the finish line. I've started to wire and install the amazing sound board provided by Valor and it works wonderfully. It's flexible enough that I was able to add a couple of low voltage LEDs to the system as well as a working fan.

When I began installing the speaker, I thought I'd have to pick between having sound or a working fan but not both. I thought about different ways to make both work and I think I came up with a workable solution. It's a little ugly but it's inside the pack and you cant see it.

Weekend Update!
I installed the engines and got everything all wired up. The engines attach to the nacelles with three Chicago screws each and are removable. I decided to house all of the electronics in the center section of the pack. It's a tight squeeze, but I think I can make it work.

I think the pack itself is finished for now. I attached the flaps, control rods and top heat sink fins. I think it looks pretty good, even though I screwed up a spot on the back but no one will ever see it or know its there except for me. Not bad for a scratch build (sort of) with no idea what I was doing.

It's gorgeous man!! Congrats! ... In the future of 3D printed packs It's great to see another scratch built kit come to life.

I'll admit it's kind of a hybrid. It has some of your resin cast parts and a couple 3D printed parts but it also has a lot of hardware store parts. Whatever the ratio, I'm super happy with the outcome. Next up is the harness portion. I bought a bunch of leather working tools on Amazon so we'll see how things go. I had never heard of a "Stitching Pony" but now I own one!

I just discovered your thread-phenomenal project build. The results are terrific. I have dreamed of building one of these!

I did a little preliminary work on the harness pattern this weekend. I plan on sandwiching the aluminum frame inside the leather. We'll see how it goes.
