Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

That is a strange choice of words

What was that, a triple or quadruple negative? I forget the physics of when it's a positive. ;-)

Let me put it this way...

Are they made yet? No.

Is QMx still working on it? Yes.

Am I saying you shouldn't buy a sonic if you see something someone made and you want it? Nope.

Do I think you'll still want to buy the QMx one because it's officially licensed? I know I have more than one version on numerous replicas. So, based on my experience I'd say yes.

And, without breaking any NDA rules on my end, given what I do know about what's going into creating the sonics, I'm definitely saving up to get mine.

Well, I guess that's good enough for me. Sonic fund has been started. :cool

Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

Hey all,

Dropping in as the new social media/marketing face at QMx and the person behind the updates on the FB page ;-)

I wanted to drop in and say that, yes we know it's taking a long time for the sonics. However, no, we haven't decided not to make them.

There should be more news as we get closer to SDCC and it should answer some of the questions.

I also want to add that, while there are delays, there's a lot in the planning stages in a number of different QMx licenses.

Now, I know that we're never going to make things fast and cheaply enough to make everyone happy ::grin:: But there's definitely a push to get them made with both time and cost in mind.

I should be doing the FB update later today or tomorrow and the plan is to do those monthly. I should also be updating the blog soonish, so I'll let you know when that happens.

Feel free to PM me if you have questions.

Thanks!

GGD

Hello,
Do you have an estimated release date/estimated price yet?
Just trying to weigh up my options here.

Those are a lot of words with nothing to offer other than what we already know. Does an NDA stop you from saying that YES, WE WILL BE MAKING IT. No (unless that has yet to be decided and they don't want to commit), we get you saying that you are saving up for one (well spendid, that answers nothing officially, and nothing personaly either really). Sorry, that is is typical cooporate flim flam, smoke and mirrors, misdirection that offers nothing and points towards nothing firm forthcoming anytime soon. If we get anything more than another sample at SDCC, I'll offer an apology if anything more is put forward.

Well, I guess that's good enough for me. Sonic fund has been started. :cool

Seriously!!!!!!! Now we know an employee is saving up for one, and you are happy!!! That is the most official unnofficial announcement I've ever seen. A massive insult on anyones intelligence who has been in business and can see these statements for what they are. Read them again and actually look at the information you glean from them.... an employee on a forum publically saying that the company is working on it, but offers no other information other than that they personally buy unnofficial products as well as official ones and will also save for the QMX version. C'mon, that is actually worthless in terms of release news, actually less than worthless! And scary in terms that a rep contracted by the BBC would say such a thing, Shenanigans indeed. QMx really need to sort out their PR if this person is really who they claim to be.

Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

It seems the only people left in the world who actually are going to want one of these are folk who refuse to buy from CT, or want every released version.

We got burned by MFX (licenced), we're being BS'ed by QMX (licenced), and yet the one guy who is absoluteley scrupulously honest, accurate and completeley lacking in BS (unlicenced) is already selling them with (afaik) 100% customer satisfaction. Weird.

Or maybe they're labouring under the massive misconception that this will come in at a lower price point than CT. I dunno, I give up :unsure

Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

I can see getting a little worked up over an expensive toy that you might never be able to own. I personally really, really want QMx to make good on the sonic, because it's the only way I'll ever get one with sound. It's the most important prop that goes with my most important costume, so as far as props go, owning one of these is my highest priority. If it never gets made, especially after years (wow, just realized that word applies here) of telling us it'll definitely happen, I for one will be a bit upset.

Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

Sadly this particular sonic has not only been something of a Holy Grail to a lot of people but also a Troll Feeding Fest because of the monster rip it's put in the community over the controversies of it getting made in various ways by various people/companies.

Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

Wow, you guys take this way too seriously. It's not like there is a c-scar on it.

I have to save up for a CT, or have to save up for a QMx. Either way, money has to be saved.

Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

There's nothing on that yet. As I understand it, we should have more info at SDCC. Things are still being hammered out.

If you're looking at something in the meantime, I can't tell you to wait because I don't know when those dates will firm up. But I do know that there are a few things in the works that should move the making of the sonics forward.

Clipping:

Does it have to be a prototype? Or can it be information on the sonics? I'm checking on the parameters of your expectations. ;-)

I...wow.

1) I never said it was an "official announcement" I'm just te interactive marketing person and I was trying to answer a few questions because people are asking them.

2) I said I buy unofficial merchandise?

3) I'm not a rep for BBC and I'm not claiming to be anything. I'm a fan of Doctor Who and I said I was saving up for a sonic. Because, while there's no sonic made yet by QMx, I know there's every intention to get one made and I want one.

I'm not trying to be combative and I'm not trying to mislead. Asp, I don't know why you're taking this so seriously. But I can see that you are.

I said earlier:

"Are they made yet? No.

Is QMx still working on it? Yes."

I don't know how that's misleading. Granted, it may not be the answer people want because they want official dates and prices. But it's the answer I have and I'd rather not tell you something I can't back up.

Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

You should of just said QmX is in the process, more soon at SDCC! I'm excited!

I thought I said that. I meant that ;-)

I just worry people will take "in the process" as currently manufacturing. But, more at SDCC soon for sure!

Well said on all of your comments GGD. The fans asked for updates, QMx promised to give monthly updates, and you are delivering on that promise, and more.

Thanks!

Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

Yeah, no use beating this to death and making a fuss. I think a lot of us are getting emotional over this because of how much we love Doctor Who as well as how much we love prop replicas.
I'm really interested in what will be revealed at SDCC - maybe release dates? Prices? Or even pre-orders?!

Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

Oh SDCC can't come fast enough. Just over a month! Can't wait! Must say the poster was a disappointment when I was waiting on pins and needles but now I must say I am right back in there with anticipation.

Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

There is one Sweeeet MFX sonic on Ebay. It clearly shows the differences and what MFX should have done to nail it.

Out of my price range, If QMX make one like that and affordable, I'll be one happy bunny.
