Did anyone think the alien that was chasing Topher was the first pred that they scrapped in the original??? It did cross my mind during the scene.

yeah man, i said that to my mate as we was watchin it! did look very much like the scrapped original...
we'll have to watch this space i guess, for someone to find an image?!

I thought that the movie intro was just ok, being thrust right into the action is good and bad. I thought they should have followed the original script on this one. Where Royce is hunting down a mark in the city. Chasing him through the back alley and stuff then all of a sudden *WHAM*! Then he's falling. I dunno. And yes, i thought the exact same thing once the little alien thingy chasing Topher was dead and laying there, i thought it had a funny resemblance to the original design that was scrapped. Wonder if Van Dam was in the suit....lol

even though some may not like it in the end we got another predator flick to enjoy and i hope there will be more in the future, RR and Antal did a great job and hopefully they will helm a sequel with a bigger budget and more predator vs predator action

I think you really hit the nail on the head with your comment.

RR and Antal went into this movie knowing that the franchise in itself took a MAJOR BLOW from the dissapointing AVP series. If Predators takes off, then the budget will be bigger for the next one. Fox didn't want to dump a boat load of money on a Predator film to have it take a nose dive like AVP did.

Re-looking at the characters again, these guys and gal was the meanest hunters on earth. It wasn't like in AVP were some "explorers" just so happened to stumble upon the Preds. You have a sniper, a con on death row for crazy murders, a doctor who is insane, a soldier that was basically kicked out of the black ops, [from what I understand] a drug cartel enforcer, etc...not exactly the type of people you want for pool party. They were the earth version of the Predators.

As for the badbloods, they would kill by any means...whether that is by trap, themselves, their weapons, or the hounds. There is no honor, no ethics--just black death.

As for the Pred deaths, I agree too quick and too soon for two of them. But Tusk was a badass before he died. Knocked a couple large dents in pure steel [alien steel] and had a claymore blow up 6 inches from his chest...nothing anywhere will survive that. As for Falconer, he faced a pretty bad ass with a sweet blade. It took 8 or 9 grenades to slow down the bsp, at a distance of a foot or less....pretty hardcore. If you can compare to the fact that it took 8 grenades to slow down the bsp and it took a log to basically stop the original P1...that's saying something.

just got back from seeing the movie and.......i wanted to love this movie and for me there was so much of it that just didn't work...and before i write this i know there are people who are going to say that pred's come in different sizes but ( guess whats coming!) they're for me to short, when brody releases the predator from being chained up he was well under 7", i hate the new predators face design even though at first it didn't bother me as much as it bothered some, i was gutted when the freed predator got his arse kicked by the beserker and then had his head lopped off( i was quite upset :D ) it really annoyed me when they killed off the other two super black predators in quite quick succesion, the duel between the falconer and yakuza was something i was so looking forward to and it was quite frankly as dull as ditch water! the cgi hunter dogs looked quite naff.
but as i write this i do remember parts of the film that really worked the musical score was amazing, adrian brody was great the general casting for this film was pretty spot on ( apart from laurence fishburne who in my opinion was way to underdeveloped)
i loved the new cloaking effects , i loved the whole concept of the game reserve.

all in all this not terrible film nor is it the film that i wanted it to be .

For those who think the Preds were panzies for using dogs and cloaked ropes, etc... consider one thing. They're no different than the pazie big game hunters here on our OWN planet, who hire guides, take tracking dogs to tree their quarry, go into game reserves specifically designed for hunting just so they can bring home a trophy. I'm neither pro nor anti-hunting as long as it's done legally, without poaching, but I've always felt that game hunting on a reserve was for the unskilled, ego-driven guy who wants a bear head in his den. You want a bear head in your den? Then, go out by yourself during bear season, hunt one, find one, kill it, gut it, drag it a few miles through heavy terrain back to your ride and transport it for taxidermy... don't hire a guide, with dogs to tree it, so you can usportingly shoot it out of a tree and have the guide service do the rest...

Which brings me to this... at first, I too, thought the preds were a bit panzyfied for not just going out and hunting... but then, I got to thinking about how it is here. Maybe on their planet, they're NOT glorified as great hunters. Maybe they come to this reserve planet because they lack the skills to be lone galactic hunters. The NEED the dogs and cloaked rope and traps. And that would also explain why Black didn't take the bio off when the fire ring was raging... he wasn't skilled enough to know to do so... He felt more protected that way. Put a big game "hunter" on our planet, without his guide in a situation where he's all alone, without any REAL hunting skills and when that grizzly bear that he's just injured and pissed off but not killed starts to hunt him, he'll likely not know what to do, fire out all of his ammo at a real moving target that now has a purpose and likely be killed in the end.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the more I thought about it last night on the way home, the more it makes sense, and knowing there will be a sequel based on the ending, maybe the sequel brings in one lone cleaner pred like the Wolf to rectify the situation... we already know there are more humans falling from the sky... And... perhaps the "cleaner" actually survives... yeah, I'm know I'm reaching a bit with the pred surviving, but...

Oh, and on LF... Mary pointed out that maybe he's been eating from all the skinned critters hanging from the trees and maybe that meat is high protein, high fat... Plus, we don't know what exactly 10 "seasons" equals in earth time... he said seasons, not years, and a season there might only equal 4 months here, depending on the planets rotation and orbit... Plus, he did manage to figure out the cloaking device, so he could move around the food source while cloaked to feed himself (10 times a day by the look of things...lol)... still didn't like his character though.

just saw it! XD it was pretty amazing

predator vs predator has to be one of the best scene.
but didn't really have a ending though, when's the sequel gonna come out? :p
Mr.Black is actually growing on me. :D

overall, pretty sick!

Did you guys notice that at the end when the parachuts were falling down, with crates attached, to the left one of the parachuts had a human on it, and you can hear the fain scream of what sounds like another human falling out of the sky?

well there gonna have to send in some more preds since all preds again died! i was thinkin what LF was sayin, there is two tribes like the classics and the new preds, and the new preds kill the classics, well it aint a pred planet its a hunting ground so if classics are getting their arses whooped all the time why do they still go there! to me these preds died too easily and LF said he already killed 3 i think.....

Thought it was very entertaining. I liked the action and the storyline. I kinda wanted too see more from all the humans, they didn't really interact a whole lot. One REALLY detail bothered me. The noises they made sounded terrible... I didn't hear one original roar...=C But definitely good, I'm glad they made this one and I'll be seeing it a couple more times!!! I recommend it for any predator fan.

Yep the sounds were terrible! I was so mad.

in a word the film was Poor at best.

felt rushed.. lack of imagination ... Pred fight scenes were to short.. again died way to easy... i'd actually say that the AVP series was far better... really let down.. i think its time to leave the pred franchise as it is..

best part of the film was the music score..

First off, once you said the AVP film series was better, you lost all credibility.

you must be smoking crack. what more do you want, the original will never be outdone. Us Pred fans complaining over spilt milk is ridiculous. The film has been getting great reviews and overwhemingly positive results from fans, except you.....and some others......what more do you want.

After seeing the movie at midnight and having a day to think about the movie...This movie was the best Predator movie since the first one. The action, and the dialog I thought was very, very good. Also the humor that was in it was very well placed, just enough to give you a breather from the killings and...BAM!!!...right back into killing. But I do agree that the mythos and back story for the Super Predators and the Classic Predators should have been described better, but it give a mystery for the Predators. Is it really a Predator planet? Or it is a Hunting planet that goes to the strongest clan?

I also like how the human characters didn't seem to wine and bitch about why they're here. lol they took the bull by the horns and went into it. I also liked the little nods and such to the original film, which was a very nice touch.

All in all, I really like this film, and my friends that went with me, loved it too. Could this be the new "Predator" for the new movie age? I think so.

I give it a 9/10.

first i'd like to say i went and saw it last night and I LOVED IT! sure i thought there was an excessive amount of "F-bombs" in the beginning, but personally, if i found myself in that situation, that would probably be every other word out of my mouth!! but hey it didn't last through the entire movie, and i thought they spaced them out after the initial shock.

i loved the "debney/sylvestri" combo music, and how he stepped it up in some areas to make it even more dramatic! couple extra beats in there at times and really added to it for me. the score ROCKED!! and totally fit the movie IMO. and did not at all seam like a "rehashing". in a bad way at least. that'd be like saying we never wanted "predator music" in another "predator movie" just because it's been so long, silly to me, i've been wanting more of the original score since then, the AVP's teased us at times, making me think it was almost about to bust into some pred music, but never delivered, and that! PISSED, ME, OFFF!!

the other predators, despite some of their lack of screen time, really rocked!!

falconer, i actually liked how he moved more reptilian than human, just added to it for me. the falcon was underplayed, sure, but was awesome in it's own right, and i loved that scene where it flies back and lands on his shoulder and their all there in the camp, TOTALLY AWESOME!!

tracker (tusky), was a badass, but apparently nikolai was too, and perhaps tusky underestimated his opponent, and his resilience,(which has happened before :p) so i didn't really hold it against him, and maybe he didn't expect his prey to take the "predator" way out :D also we all know that the plasmacaster has different "settings" they don't always have to be fatal, tusky gave him one to put him down but not cave his chest out, so he could take a more personal approach, when maybe he shouldn't have.

mr. black! well i must say, no, he didn't have all the movements that we see a pred having, but he simply wasn't ****** around! and i think he totally rocked his part! and honestly, i wish we would've seen more of that ugly face of his, i didn't expect him to put his bio back on but hey, these guys are different than the "honorable" preds we're used to. either way he was totally BADASS!

i could go on and on but i won't

i really loved the preds designs and i can't WAIT to start collecting some 3d versions of these things

GREAT ******* MOVIE!!
