New model for OWK three holes saber... (New pics on pg 13. 11-17-2024)

I checked on the thread and it's totally fine. I almost gave up at that point but I decided to pull it out with Pliar one last time. That worked smoothly, and I am so grateful to people who gave me solutions!
Perfect! When assembling do alittle at a time with each one ;)

“take your time do it right”

I FINALLY DID IT! I managed to pull out Bezel with pliers taped to not damage the surface. I did get some scratches on the hilt, but I'll use fine sandpaper to polish it.

Next is red button attachment.

Congratulations!

It’s been painful to watch this situation play out. We all know how frustrating it can be when it seems like something is royally screwed up on a project.

found this on facebook

Now, this may be relevant to the "in between" version instead of the ep 3 version, but still, is that a blade on the hilt? lol

And at last, the red button attachment is removed! I am truly glad this isn't damaged. Next time, I'll be more careful to assemble these hilts. Thank you, truly everyone for the support, solutions, and celebration!

While an ingenious design, the red/copper button spacer and the bezels do indeed seem difficult to install or remove. As noted, I had a few close calls, myself. I would hope that anyone trying to install this kit with a FX system doesn’t have too much trouble.

So, I have reassembled this time, correctly aligning the screws and buttons following the tutorial video. I will add LED and purple rivet when I can install this hilt.

May the Force be with you always!

Good job buddy! We were all rooting for ya

…and then there was 1. Just picked it up after debating. I couldn’t miss out on it!

What’s the chances he does another OWK TPM Hero run? I mean, if he doesn’t, I’d be willing to pay 5x the original just to get one. No joke.

Don't know if this will happen since Anakin Starkiller has other projects he's working on but maybe in the future a TPM Obi can be done with ABS instead of Delrin just like the upcoming Qui-Gon hilt:)

I was honestly thinking this last night while holding my SaltShaker I thought it would be cool if Starkiller made a OWK TPM run but for the FX people in similar assembly to the Saltshaker. Of course you would lose the accuracy of the pommel cubes being individual piece's if they are on a ring. And then maybe might lose the angled Emitter but surely Dan could model that up in a way.

I mean I have his latest static run so I'm happy but it would be wicked to have a FX run that's true instead of dressing the Saltshaker. As it's lacking the asymmetrical U cuts and many other little things to consider it true TPM accurate , That's why I refrained from 2 kits. Then we could maybe slip some of those into Chrome plating to give a accurate FX AOTC since resin has plating problems. Would be great to see but wishful thinking to see Dan have all the Obi models being FX optional especially AOTC chrome IIRC the last FX Obi TPM Dan did was quite a long time ago with the OM Zenkai drawings he was involved with if I'm correct which was EL type then.

I get messages daily asking if there are anymore or if there are any for sale second hand

I think a FX run is a great idea.

I have been considering this for a while and have talked about it with both Drew and Halliwax. I'm almost 100% certain that this will happen before too long. The.only think that is holding me back on pulling the trigger is that the EFX OWK sabers is coming out pretty soon and I don't want to directly compete with the license holder as they move to produce this prop. I'd rather wait until the licensed piece is complete and then revisit the OWK ep1 saber when EFX is no longer working on it. Plus, it may very well be the case that when EFX releases their saber, that we might learn something new about the original prop.

Efx should be soon. They were supposed to be shipped in December. Then there was some sort of port or customs delay, and now a fire delay. So hopefully soon!

If I do a metal replicas of the chrome stunts that Ewan used in AOTC, it would probably be more than just a chrome plated version of the TPM saber. I'd want the dimensions to match the resin stunts, so it would be a slightly smaller saber that takes into account the shrinkage from resin and the ways the saber distorted when it was cast. Basically, I'd model it directly off of my production made resin stunt saber and try to reproduce those proportions rather than the ep1 metal hero, which was bigger than the resin castings of it that show up in AOTC. Also, I probably wouldn't make it from aluminum, since chrome doesn't stick well to aluminum over time. I'd guess that chromed steel would work better for the shroud, sleeve, and pommel cubes.

Whether this happens or not, the AOTC version of the salt-shaker kit works perfectly well.

Aside from the very small, very specific asymmetries and whatnot (as well as the pommel cubes, brass valve shape, etc.) that are unique to the TPM hero, 99% of people wouldn't be able to tell them apart at first glance.

The chromed resin dummies may have been used more in the film, but the (apparently refurbished) TPM belt-hanger was used for the reference photos, and so represents the "real" saber.

Also, remember that the TPM resin dummies got more screentime in TPM than the metal hero, too.
