The sad part, with a few exceptions, is that it seems like Disney just said "Show me the money!" and that's their prime motivating factor with the SW property. Obviously they don't want it to fail, that would be idiotic, but they aren't being good caretakers. They need to start vetting their writers/stories instead of throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks. Oh and if someone could tell them that berating the fans, and allowing all levels of your employees to also do so, for not liking the crap they put out, that would be great... I still like SW, just not the Sequels or new books.

Iger joking that just tweeting Star Wars is opening is sufficient advertisement shows how strongly be believed Star Wars to be as a cash cow. To be fair, he is the CEO and its not his job to manage Star Wars but on Kennedy.

I guess thats my issue with Kennedy, she seems incompetent in that she hasnt put in the basic research to understand and properly develop the Star Wars brand. Saying there is no source material to develop the ST when there was Lucas’ own proposed scripts and the EU is downright insulting. She isnt an intern, she is the chairwoman of Lucasfilm and the captain of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises.

Her career does consist of assisting creatives like Spielberg and Lucas, being the logistics and backoffice support so they can focus on creating/directing. She approached the chairwoman role as she did as a producer, hiring directors like Abrams and RJ to do the creative stuff and just support their work.

So a line from ROTJ always seemed kind of odd to me...When Luke encountered Bib Fortuna at Jabba's Palace, used a mind trick on him and said: "You serve your master well and you will be rewarded." I always kind of wrote off Fortuna being rewarded as empty words as he was walking away. I think Luke knew through the force (and their meeting prior to Jabba's Palace in the EU) that Fortuna was going to survive and take over Jabba's criminal empire, but did Luke actually do something to help him/reward him or was it just lip service? Nothing I ever saw in the EU or canon really went into that but I could've very well missed something. Just slightly inconsequential thoughts I had after watching the Mandalorian finale again.

It's simpler than that. Luke put that phrase into Bib Fortuna's head, to make him believe it. That's the mind trick, and that's all it was.

Jabba had previously given orders not to let Luke into the palace, so Luke used the mind trick to turn Bib Fortuna temporarily from an obstacle into someone that would clear the rest of the path towards Jabba's dais. Jabba's dialogue when Luke shows up explains that.

Right because then Fortuna said "he must be allowed to speak" and was clearly still under Luke's influence. I always understood that all Luke's dialogue at that point was all part of the mind trick until Jabba laughs and tells Luke that his powers won't work on him. Just thought it was an odd thing to say and perhaps there was more to it especially since Fortuna survived.. But you're probably right, I think I was reading more into it than there was.

Some of the "who survives and who doesn't" decisions made since the Disney sale have rankled. I disagree with the TPK of Rogue One. Lazy writing (amongst other lazy writing in that film). I have no problem with "Boba" surviving the sarlacc and escaping it. But Bib was belowdecks on the sail barge, right next to Jabba, about two minutes before this happened:

Nothing around except Our Heroes in the one remaining skiff. I honestly find Bib surviving that even more ludicrous than Maul's return.

I saw a discussion on another fan page about why Obi-Wan says "You can't win Darth." in ANH. A lot of people said "Well it's before they made that a title and it was just his name." I swear I read something, maybe the Rinzler Making of ANH book, where Darth was a title for the Sith from the beginning. Does anyone remember? I kind of like that Obi-Wan was using it as an insult. Calling him Anakin would have also worked, but they obviously think Anakin is gone completely and I don't know if that name was attributed to him when SW came out.

In the original credits for ANH Vader is listed as "Lord Darth Vader." "Lord" being the title and "Darth Vader" being the name. As far as I've heard "Darth" was later changed to be a title. Exactly when it was changed I'm not sure but was post ANH.

I just look at it as Disney Star Wars is not Star Wars, it’s just fan fiction
Anything ludicrous that happens, I just shrug it off, anything good that happens is a bonus

So something I was just thinking of. With all of George's tinkering with the OT. How come he never fixed the Y-wings not having astromechs?

That sounds about right. Poorly written fan fiction based on Turkish Star Wars, with the author half-blind. XD

I'd think that if there was a shortage of astromechs then the hangar techs wouldn't have offered Luke a replacement for R2-D2 just before flight.
