The original MF toy didn't have lights or sounds, so we had to make our own. Around 1980 (I was 8) I was playing in my room, the MF had crash landed in a laundry basket and Han had to check the power couplings. Since it was dark, I put a "torch" in his hand (a wooden match from my dad's cigar table). Well the cardboard divider in the ship caught pretty fast while I was getting Chewie out of the Darth Vader case, by the time I turned back Han was lost to the flames and the hull integrity was being breached! I ran to the bathroom, got a glass of water and frantically threw it at the ship, completely missing it. My next plan was the window, I opened it, grabbed the now engulfed Falcon and chucked it from the second floor.
Probably my most distinct memory of a Star Wars toy was watching it trail flames and black smoke as it nose dived to the patio shattering and splashing gobs of burning plastic everywhere! It was GLORIOUS!
At the time my mother was washing dishes, looking out the window directly below me.
There was...some trouble afterwards. They never replaced the Falcon, Dad said I lost my pilot's license.
