Oh awesome and the F-14 also?! That's my absolute favorite airplane. I've been obsessed with the Tomcat ever since I was a little kid. I'm sure Top Gun had a lot to do with it.

I'd love to meet your uncle some day. I'd pester him like NeoRutty is about to pester his coworker haha.

This is internal to ILM c.1982 for relative speed in the motion-control work. It predates all the more refined, printed versions that came along in the late '80s and into the '90s:

It honestly makes sense. The Y-Wings were meant to be stripped down hot rod like ships. They should have similar speeds.

It was most likely a game mechanic that became canon with time. What's really funny is the B-wing got a speed increase. It's up to 91 MGLT now

I wish they'd bring back the Rogue Squadron games.

Have you guys played the Rogue One VR level for Battlefront 1? I would LOVE a whole VR game like that.

Oh I wish they would too. I'd settle for a remaster at this point. Heck part the work is finished. I heard one of the developers say that their 3D models that they made for 2 and 3, are on par with DICE/EA and detailed enough that all they'd need do is create new textures. You can actually get the first game for PC. Not the best port, but it's playable. I actually still have my old GameCube and play 2 and 3 from time to time.

I haven't gotten chance to play the VR mission, sadly. Wasn't it PSVR exclusive?

Yeah only PSVR. I actually bought the PSVR just to play that game. Luckily I liked it and bought more games lol. The graphics are stellar but the headset itself doesn't have the sharpest image. Imagine looking through a screen door. The immersion factor, though, more than makes up for it. You genuinely feel like you're sitting in an X-wing. They replicate the cockpit down to every switch and button. Almost everyone that's come over my house and tried it ended up buying one. The only downside is most of the games are short. Fun, but short.

I have a friend who has an Oculus, and I got to play Vader Immortal. It is so intimidating when you're standing face to face with Vader.

Seriously though that's so cool! 2 years and he never mentioned it? I like that he doesn't feel the need to brag about it. Sounds like a humble guy. Exactly the type that probably wouldn't mind you asking about it.

Previous to the last month we didn’t really cross paths more than hellos... he’s an older guy... mid late60’s and doesn’t usually talk much... but then they hide me in an office on the opposite side of the studio, so I guess I wouldn’t know if he’s ever mentioned, ha.

But yeah, there’s a lunch today with same people so I do wanna bug him, but I also know it was super long ago.

I barely remember projects from TWENTY years ago... but then it wasn’t empire strikes back.

Meeting someone who worked on Star Wars is like meeting someone who worked on the Apollo programs. It's become almost mythical in a weird way.
I was thinking exactly the same thing -- because it reminded me that, for the first six to eight years I was in my current job (I'm now in my 21st year), there was a guy here -- an engineer -- who did work on the Apollo programs. I never wanted to pepper him with questions about it, partly because no one else did it; I more or less took my cue from that, I think. I had worked here for three or four years before I even learned he had been involved. Therefore, I couldn't tell you what he did, other than I once heard him mention specifically that he had worked on the Saturn V in some capacity. He retired years ago and is now in his late 70s. He still nominally lives here in town, but I believe he and his wife spend most of their time on the road in a motor home. A really nice, friendly guy.

You do know there is a spoiler tag, right?
At the same time isn’t Mike Zeroh the guy who has a piece of brand new exclusive inside information every day that he usually pulls out of...his Sarlacc pit or one of the systems on his outer rim or his trash compactor or thermal exhaust port or whatever you wanna call it...?

I saw a few of his videos and eventually watched more just to see what kind of absurd nonsense he would spout as being leaks just for laughs and eventually the novelty wore off.

I wouldn't believe a single word he says about the subject.

But.... Here's the question I have for you all to ponder. Is it remotely possible that films like TFA or TLJ are actually good films? But they just don't appeal to you. But just because it doesn't appeal to you, doesn't mean it's a bad film. It just means you don't like it. But maybe the idea of not liking a Star Wars film is subconsciously repulsive, and therfore it must be a bad film. And if it's a bad film, then there has to be reasons for you to dislike it. And so you point to the flaws.
I think it comes about because there is a lot of immaturity in these new films pandering to kids. The original set of films (actually it did start in ROTJ) are done in a very adult way even though they are targeted at the younger generation. Young people aren't stupid, and unfortunately these films add to much nonsense in them to make them frankly quite forgettable, and for that reason I think I would have felt the same even if you took away the Star Wars labelling. Rogue One on the other hand kept it simple and didn't have any of the rubbish overdone scenes or stupid ironing board jokey bits to warrant it as a pretty decent film, which I actually do enjoy rewatching.

This is a silly example. But it illustrates what I'm talking about. I've had people tell me that seeing bombs dropping in space broke the immersion. So I have ask them why TIE bombers dropping bombs in space doesn't phase them? To date nobody can answer me.

Or earlier I was talking about how Imperial/First Order officers are almost always arrogant or inept. And this allows our heroes to get away. But when TLJ does it, it's bad writing, and it's a bad movie for that. But when ESB does is, sure it's bad writing, but oh well, I love the film so I'm going to overlook it.

I guess what I'm trying say, is when someone points out a flaw in one of the new films as evidence to show that it's a bad film. While ignoring the same flaw in an OT film. Thou art barking up the wrong tree.

I just wish more people could acknowledge the flaws in all the films, rather then conveniently picking and choosing. That's how I've come to love them all. It's because I've accepted that they all have their flaws
Some more then others *cough, Attack of the Clones, cough*
1. I never previous gave it thought though I guess I may have assumed they were propelled rather than dropped, where as in the latest tosh you see them physically dropped. I guess in empire I can interpret it rather than be shown/told it.
2. In empire their escape is shown as skillful flying etc and being inept is dealt with by death. In the latest tosh it's treated in joke format. Can I put you on hold a moment... If that isn't rubbish then how poor does it have to get!

After he played the victim after Warner/Chappell claimed his music in his fan film, he really dropped for me.
