It actually looks better in person. Apparently the Alclad forms a sort of prismatic 2-way mirror over the black, where if you look at it at an angle you see the black underneath but as you rotate it and see it straight on it looks silver. Very trippy... They say if you watch it dry under a microscope you can see the tiny particles stick together in a sheet and form the mirror in the lacquer.
If I do another one (which I will probably have to once my buds get a load of mine when it is finished), I'll try some other way of prepping the areas that I plan to Alclad so they are smoother. It's just such an intricate thing and I was afraid of losing detail.
