DST WOK PHASER... Who got theirs?!?

The purple phaser was in an auction (Christies? Profiles?) but I have no idea if or where it was actually used in a show.

I used to have an auction catalog pic but can't find it now. These shots are from a Blu Ray disc extra on props I think. Probably from TrekCore.

The clip-on holster kind of looks like the one Castillo wears in TNG "Yesterday's Enterprise", but he has a standard metallic-colored Miarecki style prop.

Oh wait, you mean they plan to reissue the WOK phaser with accurate paint and holotape at some point in the future? That would suck. :unsure

I want the inexplicable purple edition. :lol

That was for Samuel L. Jackson's uncredited cameo as an extra in the background of that one scene! You know the one, where that guy does that thing! ;)

Oh right. "I have had it with these monkey-fightin' snakes on this Monday-to-Friday starship." :rolleyes

But why is it purple. :lol

And why is the holster all glittery. This must be a disco phaser. For landing on planets that look like a disco ball. :cool

Well you can tell by the way I use my walk

Guys, your welcome for the pics. :cool

I have not had the handle apart yet. When I do I'll post some pics. I'm hoping there is enough space to epoxy some lead fishing line weights in there. I will also take a look and post pics of the trigger button too. Even with the LEDs painted with clear they are still stupid bright! Actually, your not painting the LED, but a clear bubble insert above the LEDs.

I may actually look at adding the belt clip from the Playmates when I open the handle. :)

I'm going to guess they needed a test phaser to make the holsters and some wise-guy painted it purple just because that was what was lying around and, maybe,, they found it funny. And, the holster was a test shot, so they were also just playing around with the gilttery material or paint.

Another thought is they thought the colors would look better on camera and they did it for a camera test, but changed it before production.

Well if you notice, most alien technology tends to be red, pink, purble, orange, and any other color that contrasts with Federation silver. Perhaps in a pinch this hung on the side of some alien in some show?

Thank you for posting pics of the innards, I don't think I'll have the stones to open mine up quite so soon. Oh and nice Playmates rebuild!

I think the TMP/TWOK phaser is the only one Playmates got even remotely correct.

Thanks for this pic BTW, I love various comparison photos (Karl is usually the master of this).

Could be. I'm sure they had a bunch of these lying around gathering dust after YE. Why not reuse them for background props?

What I'd like to see is a darker color YE release of the DST.

I'd also like to see someone make the YE holster for the DST TWOK phaser as well. Anyone up to the task?

You might want to add something more robust that wont break so easily. Military ALICE clips, would that be appropriate? Never used those myself.

Here's what the real prop had in TMP (no clip in WOK, they just had the phaser in the pocket of the jacket).

Note clip on the one phaser there.

I got mine in the mail (UPS) yesterday from New Force Comics. I love it. O.K. here are some inside shots. The plugs are easy to remove with the tip of an x-acto blade. They just pop out and do not appear to be glued in.

I painted the LEDs with Tamiya clear red and yellow. It looks a lot better now IMO. It looks a bit less toy like with colored LEDs.

And here is the AA next to my repainted Playmates. The Playmates is actually a wee bit bigger than the AA. I find myself almost wishing AA had put a belt clip on theirs like the Playmates has!

Click pictures for a big copy.
What's up with your pics? When I click the thumbnails, I get a "404 error". :confused

I get it too???? I'll have to re-host them with someone else.:unsure I'm at work and most are blocked for me here.

Thanks phase pistol for the pic. I think I had a mag (starlog) with that pic in it. I remember staring at it for hours. I have several Starlogs with colums on when TMP was still going to be Phase 1 and then chnaging to TMP movie announcement.

I was planning to resist getting this, but following the thread has overwhelmed my self control and I just placed my order.

Sorry if this is a dumb question that everyone knows the answer to... If I were tempted to re-paint the body, what is the best way to do that on plastic? Is there a primer that will adhere to the plastic that I can cover with the auto paint?

Any spray primer from the auto store or stores like Walmart/Meijer will work just fine.

The TMP pics show what I think is a distinctive feature of the prop: the "rim" around the Dilithium Crystal (power button) is HIGH, with a prominent gap or trench between rim and the clear button in the middle.

On the WOK phaser in the Seattle museum, that rim is low just as in the DST, but that item is a "stunt" phaser that's been "heroized" or so is myunderstanding. I do like TMP look tho but if the upcoming DST exclusive repaint just re-uses the WOK mold, the rim will be low again. :unsure
