DST WOK PHASER... Who got theirs?!?

HA! noticed that. I guess that sound is kind of cool in a toy. I would trade a transporter sound for some of the voices on the DST comm any day (and nvm the tricorders:lol).

Anybody know if DST intends to do a TMP Tricorder or a WOK Communicator or Tricorder.

And a Search for Spok Phaser

And an Assault Phaser.....

ahhhhhhh............................ :love

I picked up the ST:WOK Phaser. It looked very simple in the box (like the old squirt gun from years ago), but I was EXTREMELY please after I tried it out. Tons of flashing lights and sound fx. I had to read the instructions just to figue out all the cool stuff it can do. Love the "overload" setting. A truly remarkable and well done toy prop. Highly recommended! (y)thumbsup(y)thumbsup:thumbsup

As I've said before, I get so much more out of these that $300+ props that you buy and worship. My son and I have 4 TOS phasers and go on away missions all the time. Do THAT with an MR LE Phaser ! Ha !:love

I am DYING for my TWOK and TMP phasers. Inexpensiv fun (all I can afford right now) I can't wait for the rest !

Agree on all counts! As much as I love my prop replicas, I feel I have to be gentle with them. With the DST I can have fun with them, throw them around, and really enjoy the simplicity and enjoyment of playing with them. The fact that they are as accurate as they are for a $30 toy is just icing on the cake.

I got mine in the mail (UPS) yesterday from New Force Comics. I love it. O.K. here are some inside shots. The plugs are easy to remove with the tip of an x-acto blade. They just pop out and do not appear to be glued in.

I painted the LEDs with Tamiya clear red and yellow. It looks a lot better now IMO. It looks a bit less toy like with colored LEDs.

And here is the AA next to my repainted Playmates. The Playmates is actually a wee bit bigger than the AA. I find myself almost wishing AA had put a belt clip on theirs like the Playmates has!

Thanks for the pics! Do you have any of the opposite side of the circuit board? I'm looking for any obvious jumpers that can be cut. :love

Well I was waffling about this one. Wanted to see it in person 1st. Then if I liked it, I'd order one for less. Yeah right! Finally found pretty much the only one in MS and of course, once I saw it, I had to have it right then. So at $34 I now have me a new toy. :cool Seriously, if you even think you might want one, go ahead and order it.

As said before, read the instructions or you'll think it's broken when you try to make it work. Once you know the sequence to initiating and firing, you're good to go. Also make sure the P1 is firmly locked in place or you'll keep getting that "locking" sound off and on and the gun shutting down.

My only 3 critiques are the transporter sound in overload, the disintegrate emitter sequence, and the trigger function. Someone correct if I'm wrong, but when fired in TWOK to disintegrate that ear wig thing, they don't flash back and forth, it's just 4 solid lights. I personally find that back and forth look more in line with a sensor than a firing emitter and it kinda bugs me. Finally, the firing on trigger release instead of initial press takes some getting use too. Maybe there is a way to reverse that. Still love this thing though, it's a blast!

Stand by tim. I'll have them in a minute for you.:)

Hmm... Not much on this side.

Everything seems to be on this side.

Oh, I will also be building a new board for the emitter. I'm going to do a new board that has four 3mm Super Brite red LEDs on it. This will just be spliced into the wiring harness, almost a plug-n-play. That's really my only quible with the phaser, the emitter LEDs are not bright enough!!! Overall, I love this new phaser! And yes, it is painted, not molded in color.:cool

Thank you for posting pics of the innards, I don't think I'll have the stones to open mine up quite so soon. Oh and nice Playmates rebuild!

I think the TMP/TWOK phaser is the only one Playmates got even remotely correct.

I agree that this isn't a case where you need to wait for a lot of reviews. If you suspect you want one, you do. It's very clear that somebody out there really, really enjoys his job.

First thing I noticed when I took it out is that it's a very nice color. It looks almost exactly like my aluminum MacBook Pro. I had thought about maybe re-doing it in a blue-grey, but this color is too pretty. Plus, if the TOS phaser is any indication, there maybe a long strech of new paint jobs in the future.

Second thing I noticed is that the control panel is very bright. Almost seizure-inducing in its blinkiness.

The interactivity is just ohmigod. The sort of thing I imagined as a kid, but was definitely not in the cards.

The only low points are: (1) The screw holes. But at least they're covered. I guess it can't be helped. (2) Just like with the TOS phaser, I wish this were just a little bit heavier. The handle especially -- you can tell it's hollow on both pieces. With the old Playmates phasers, you got a bit of heft from the two AA batteries, but no longer. (3) I need to find some way to remove the legal infromation on the bottom. I remember I got it off the back of the communicator with a pencil eraser, but I don't remember having to do anything with the tricorder. I'll work on this.

Just a fantastic and fun toy. I totally feel safer from zombies tonight.

Did yu take apart the pistol mount too? im interested to see how easy it will be to modify the trigger to the TWOK specs...

Thanks for the full autopsy pics! I don't see anything that looks like an obvious jumper. I do see a marking for an electrolytic capacitor that isn't installed, but I think that's just an electronics revision and not related to an exclusive sound effect.

Speaking of the communicator 'exclusive' trick, are there any signs on the phaser circuit board that might show some difference in performance? I keep hearing that the EE Exclusive Phaser from The Motion Picture will have different sounds, but I'm not 100% certain.

Oh wait, you mean they plan to reissue the WOK phaser with accurate paint and holotape at some point in the future? That would suck. :unsure

I want the inexplicable purple edition. :lol
