OK.. I went back and looked over the Build Video. It's not 'that hard' to do this build, just going to take those of us with no real dremel skills a bit longer to complete as we will have to move more slowly, cutting less on each pass than someone of experience might do with the tool.

Thank the Grid Gods I did not go with the underside C Ring option.

I bought the extra C-Ring, but that looks like that could be a disaster waiting to happen if the Dremel slips up once! Kinda worried about that too, hehe.

Yea, it's just that I have a big finance that I need to take care of and I've been planning on it for several months now, and I can't afford to spend cash on things that I want :cry

That's why I did not eat for a few days, so I can afford to buy a Custom Full Disc Kit. (almost serious, kinda, nearly)

I would think that SI will keep the sale option open for some time, giving others a chance to catch up and get in on the goodness of kit ownership. Given that many of us will buy more than one kit once we have a fully refit disc on hand, he better do so or there will be riots in the forums.

The install itself looks rather simple, from the flying by vid at least. The grinding down/away of tabs and such on the disc's inner surface, that's just time consuming and careful work I think. The instructions should make it an easy refit so long as you think twice, cut once.

Just from my quick analysis of watching the vid, you'll just need to spend most of the work grinding all of the original LED retaining posts, while not accidentally sawing off the screw posts. After cutting the C ring and smoothing, it's just the addition of the new C-ring(s) and the electronics w/ a custom cut hole for the switch. Then just throw the electronics in, and close it all up.

Gah! I may have a method to get in on this run... :angel

+1. Got in on the order Early last month and while I believe these are being produced and getting ready I gotta keep on this to protect my Paypal transaction options if this is going to stretch longer.

I've taken all of the step-by-step photographs for the detailed instructions. Now I'm in the process of organizing them and adding the description for each step. Then it's just print and ship! Once all of the puzzle pieces are together orders will be flying out the door!

N makes a good point. PayPal will give us 45 days from date of transaction in which to file an 'issue', should there ever be one. That leaves only until March 3rd-4th for many of us to log an 'issue'.

From the track record so far, I seriously doubt SI wil leave us in such a place, but these details should be listed, for everyone's awareness and safety. I am sure SI has no desire to be refunding over $7,500 in March (and that's just a few weeks worth of Full Kits, not to mention all the other kits in the works plus the Basics). :eek

I've done a couple different shirt runs here on the RPF. One for the stark expo shirts and the other for the "Zombie Kill of the Week" shirts. I've received nothing but positive feedback on those. I'm also on ebay with 1669 feedbacks and my current standing is at 100% positive. I always do my best to take care of all my customers and I think my rep demonstrates that. This is by far the largest project I've attempted. And I'll admit I'm an eternal optimist when it comes to guessing how long it will take to complete a project. I have missed my initial deadline by two weeks, some of the reasons for this were beyond my control. For example, we've had some very extreme cold weather out here in CO as of late (-15*) and now that things have warmed up I was lucky enough to discover that I had a burst pipe in my guest bathroom. Over 2" of water flooded my bathroom and rec room. So that has delayed things. Also the serpentine belt blew on my car and I've had to spend time that would normally be dedicated to disc kits replacing it as well. But I don't want to bog you guys down with my personal problems. The main thing is I will do my very best to make sure I meet or exceed the expectations of each and every one of you who has placed an order! And I'll ship these kits out just as soon as I can!

See, things happen to all of us at one point or another. I know the horror SI, had 18 joint breaks in my heating system here in NYC when our temps dropped to 5* a few weeks ago. Someone failed to notice the HUGE space behind wooden panels that cover the frames of my windows, letting a -15* draft into my front rooms and flowing right across exposed cooper pipes in the walls. Three days later, heat again.

As I noted before, SI's track record is really the question, so we can just hope it all gets done within most people's time frames of comfort.

Well I wasn't TOO worried, but being as I've fallen victim to pre-paid orders that fell through with the seller vanishing and being at a total loss just makes me more wanting to just see a frequent followup if there are any delays. Initially it was a few days delay and then some of the time there was no posts at all which tends to make my mind wander, so naturally it's just me wanting updates and reassurance, whatever it may be.

Being as this thread has gone over 21 pages SI definitely is devoted to this project!

I'm sorry you've had some personal issues come up that caused some delay in your runs getting out earlier, SI. I do appreciate and have a bit more comfort in being in the know what's going on and that you're on top of things!

Will be hoping to see some shipping notices coming soon and can't wait to receive the kit! I've already gutted out the initial electronics to my Sam disc and ready to get started.
