Unlimited Run Deluxe Tron Disc Retrofit Kits

Just a little update guys. I have my new mold completed for the outer rings. Everything else is ready to go! I'll be casting all weekend and should be shipping quite a few kits including the basic kits on Monday.

One can only hope the shipments are ready to roll out. If so, then mine will be heading out in just a few days with the Week 2 series. :love

*Update

Ok, I think I have most of the kinks worked out for the outer rings! I'm still getting a few bubble issues, but you can hardly tell they are there when the disk is lit and they are practically invisible or covered by the lip of the disc when it isn’t. I may be switching materials for the outer rings to another product, but it's expensive, highly toxic and has a 16hr cure time which would really slow things down and I don't want to delay these orders any longer than I already have, so if I do make the switch it will be further down the line.

I’m still working on the detailed instructions. That is the only thing holding the orders from going out at the moment. I hope to have those completed tonight or tomorrow though.

In the mean time, here is a time lapse video I put together showing the complete install of the full kit so you guys will have an idea of what goes into modding the disc: :)

YouTube - Soulinertia's Channel

It took me 3hrs and 10mins and that includes the installation of the optional 2nd ‘C’ ring for the back half. If I only finished one side I could probably shave 45mins-1hr off the time.

Once again, thank you all for your patience.

Nice vid - wouldn't mind having the whole thing on DVD ;)

Now if only I could work that fast in real time!

I will admit.. I SUCK with a Dremel. I hope the issue, as it seems from the video, is just one of 'cutting/sanding' down a number of points which are in the way of the LED Strips. The removal of the battery section and other surface seen points, well, let's see how it goes. :unsure

:confused

I am in serious trouble.

I am thinking the same thing. I don't even know where my dremel is. Haven't used it in ages. If I find it I am SOOO rusty as using it....

"I have a BAD feeling about this."

Don't get me wrong I am excited about the upgrade. I am just afraid of jacking mine up! :eek

If your not feeling confident with the dremel, most of the work can probably be done with a pair of wire cutters and an x-acto blade, but It would take much longer to do and probably wouldn't be as safe. Make sure you wear your safety goggles kiddos! Some of these plastic bits really start going everywhere once you get into it. Also, if you notice around the 1:14 mark on my install vid my cutting wheel breaks and I have to replace it, so make sure you have extras on hand as it isn't uncommon for these to fly apart in the middle of a project. The good thing is they are readily available in multi-packs on the cheap from places like wal-mart or home depot and it only takes a minute to put on a new one. :thumbsup

Can not wait to get my kit. I have not done model building since I was a kid I am nervous as well but at least the disks are not that expensive and easy to find if you mess up! :)
