**UPDATE**
Hi everyone.
Hope you're all having a great weekend so far.
I just wanted to drop in with what will be a regular weekly update on this thread.
A little later than expected due to an unfortunate painting incident which set me back a little, and prevented me from reaching the stage that I had intended to be at in time for this update.
I rather foolishly decided to try out a new paint this week and after masking both a Hero and Yuma to use as examples of the latest parts, I found that the paint hadn't taken to the metal and was peeling straight off!
As a result, I have decided to stick with my go-to acid etch primer for the grenade section in future.
Because of the above mishap though, I was forced to strip the paint from the Hero (and Yuma) and start again.
It was my plan to have a fully finished 100% vintage hero, with present day weathering, as well as a fully finished Yuma ready for this update.
After the disaster with the new paint, I decided to focus solely on finishing the Hero, leaving the Yuma for now (although, the new stencils are finished and ready to go).
My example Hero is now finished, and I am extremely pleased with the results!
I wanted to put together a present-day Hero with all current paint chips (as seen at the Identities Exhibition) so that the handful of commissions I have for vintage Heroes can see what would be included as part of that, and to help them decide if they would prefer the on-set look (basically the same, but without the paint damage).
I've also included the optional tool marks to the pommel, emitter, and control box.
These details will all be added as part of my weathering commission (rather than including them in the CNC design). This means that they are optional for those who wish to have a dimensionally accurate hilt, but without any surface level imperfections.
Anyway, the wait is very nearly over! I constructed the above example in order to demonstrate the full range of options available as part of the weathering commission.
I just have a handful of vintage commissions to complete over the next week or so, after which I expect I’ll finally be in possession of the replica boards and will be in a position to launch the store!
Before then I’ll have a finished Yuma to show off too. After going through the whole process of stencilling and painting, only to find that my new paint was no good, I just couldn’t face it this week!
As soon as I have one finished (using the acid etch paint), I’ll be able to list those on the store too.
Signing off for now, but hope you like the look of the first finished hilt from this latest set of parts.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!
All the best and MTFBWY!
Dave
