World War Z (Pre-release)

You gotta remember though that from the synopsis listed, this movie doesn't have much in common with the source material. This could really just be World War Z in name.

Yeah, just another *yawn* zombie shoot 'em up. Won't have any of the stuff that made WWZ actually interesting. Easy pass, if that's true.

I wa actually shocked that Brad seemed sincere with this, and then turned it into a schlockfest. Shame on me to believe in him I guess.

Well at least them admitting World War Z is a disaster gives me hope that GI Joe 2 can't be THAT bad, RIGHT?

I mean 7 weeks of reshooting, good lawd that's alot of movie.

:facepalmWow. It's gotta be bad if they are bringing him in to make it better. Endings do not seem to be something he is an ace at.

these kinda reports always bemuse me.

firstly, if you're adapting a book, surely the book's ending would be known and you'd like it, that would be part of wanting to film the thing in the first place?
secondly, how is it you spend months and months in prep, then only decide the script is crap when you're about filming? isn't one of the most important bits of film making getting a script you'll think will be a hit? are they telling me that no one - NO ONE - from the stars, to the editor, to the director, to the studio execs marketing and paying for it, realised it was cac until this far down the line?

What could look great in a script could appear as utter **** once it's been filmed. I mean the execs could think its an amazing story, but once they get it in front of the test audiences, it could be a stinker.

I am really intrigued to see how this turns out.
I love the book and really want the film to be great but cannot imagine how it will translated into film. But hopefully the script has been well written and will keep the essence of the book.

Wait, a movie that has little in common with the book it is based on? How dare they!

It might work though. Look at Blade Runner. The similarities between the movie and the book could be explained in one sentence, but the movie is very popular with a lot of people.

Sent from my Apple Newton

I would rather see the film as bad as it is now than have Damon's hands smeared all over it. I just want him to go away.

Re: World War Z - Brad Pitt

He said Max Brooks. I think your getting mad max confused with mel brooks and automatically thinking mel gibson. lol

im kinda wondering.
how can paramount afford that? first gi joe, now this, and except for "rise of the guardians" they have no mayor other movies this year.
i mean i know they have a ****ton of money, but still, this has got to cost them, right?

Yes, they are on thin ice, which is why they are doing so many drastic things, reshoots and calling in new writers.

But they do have TF4 and Spongebob Movie 2 coming out!

Actually AFAIK, the only similarities that this movie has in common with the book is that it's called World War Z and has zombies. Hell, even the zombies aren't the same. They're running zombies from what I remember.

Could be the initial talk of sequels were second guessed and now its a stand alone film. That would mean loose ends need be tied up/explained/done away with...

I am hoping they can salvage a decent film out of this.
I have always hoped it would be a decent adaptation and maybe even the start of a decent trilogy.

Sounds like it was mismanaged all the way to the top. "Ok, I'm the producer. Go make the movie while Angelina and I go adopt some more African kids."
