I'd say the arms on the original are slightly curved....Not straight...So you're probably ok for that...It'd be more comfortable as well, and less cash..Which would work...
As for the sizing...If you don't have a jacket to copy exact numbers from, you're going to be guessing, and on a jacket like this that might allow a miscalculation.....What about using a friend's jacket that fits as you'd like and measuring that? Is that an option?
Failing that, I'd suggest getting someone else to measure while you show the point where the tape should end on yourself...That's still guesswork, but it'll allow more accurate numbers....
Using other fabrics doesn't always work as well either, since leather tends to fall differently, and so can't be relied upon to match the same effect unless you're measuring from a leather jacket....
