Wizarding World props

So, is there any chance of a set of these making it to my house?

All the quiditch props are cast resin, molded from the original screen props. But the finish on them is so good that, even standing right next to them, you can't tell it isn't leather until you pick it up. Big props to George on his paint job.

Yeah, cast from screen used is not a problem for me.

Look forward to seeing them in person in October!

Taking my wife and 3 kids - I can enthrall them all in my prop geek genius now, by saying "I know the guy who made that!":thumbsup

Good stuff, cool beans - nice work.

If those are the ones that a friend saw, they're plastic, if that matters to you.

Whadya think the ones in the movie are made of? :confused You do realize that they didn't actually hurl iron cannonballs at Daniel Radcliffe, don't you.

I hear that Loyd's of London will insure just about anything, but I think that would be going a bit far, even for them.

Yes, yes that's exactly what I thought.

Being plastic just means that they may look good, but if you touch it then it tends to break the illusion. They look great, but picking one up then goes to 'oh, it's plastic.' I was just pointing out that the replicas are plastic and not leather or wood.

All I'm saying is don't expect them to be leather or wood so you aren't disappointed.

I called the Universal Store yesterday and they said they would not have their Wizarding World products up on the online store until the end of the July, however, they are taking orders. There are prices listed throughtout the internet and they said you could call now and place orders for stuff.

Some of the wierder items in Zonkos, (i.e. duck on a bike, and robot lilliput) are actually items from a company called Schylling. I believe they are made from aluminum or tin and represent toys from older generations. The chattering teeth are from a company called toysmith. You can purchase any of them on Amazon.

The Universal Store did say that they would not be shipping any food or drink products, which means no Honeydukes candies, Pumpkin Juice, or Butterbeer.

Sorry, but that's even funnier. The only two things in a movie that you care about is if it looks good and whether or not an actor can hurt himself with it. And by definition, that means that almost everything has to be plastic, cause actors are idiots.

Hell, I once saw an actress break the glasses off another actor's face with an off the shelf squirt-gun.

PS. Don't take the ribbing too personally, dude. It's all in good fun.

Just received my stuff from the Universal Store and here is a small small review on each item I received.

Quaffle - This is a nerf rendition of the Quaffle seen all of the Quidditch scenes. I bought it to use as replica in my Quidditch box I am creating. The ball seems as good as you could get with a nerf product. I wish they could have at least made a pleather version.

Bludger set - I bought this also for my Quidditch box. They are both nerf material as well but the sizes seem to be correct for the bat and bludger. I am going to try and replicate both in wood now that I have decent measurements.

Omniocular - The box for this is pretty cool. Upon first inspection, the omniocular is a glorified viewmaster. It comes with slides of scenes from the movie that you can insert. The omnioculars itself is pretty big. It's plastic with painted weathering across the piece.

Fanged Flyer - Again the artwork for this is pretty cool. Upon opening the box, you will find a pleather handling glove with the flyer which is kind of funny. The flyer itself is part plastic and part foam. The paint job is just okay.

Screaming Yo-yo - Again I dig the art work for the box, but yo-yo itself is just a regular yo-yo with a lenticular sticker placed on the outside of the housing.

Remembrall - This item is exactly like you see in the photos circulating around. Plastic ball with cell batteries that make the interior glow red. You could probably make a better one from glass and brass if you so had the mind.

Ministry of Magic Stamp Kit - This is a metal stamp kit with two wax candle sticks. I haven't taken it out of the packaging to test them yet. I believe they also have them for each house.

Quibbler/Spectraspecs - This is the outside of the Quibbler circulating around with card stock glasses attached. It doesn't look like you have to punch them out though to use them. The art work for this is actually pretty good. Beats having to take this to a printer and matching the font.

I will have pictures up shortly. I also have a sneakoscope and comb-a-chameleon on order.

I called the toll free number. and told them what I wanted. Customer suport takes your order, goes to the park and gets the stuff. They shipped it last Friday and I got it today. By the way, there are only two women working the customer support.

None of these items will be online until the end of July. They will not be offering any of the candy or drinks at all online. You will need to send someone in if you want any of the candies.

I really wanna see what the birthday wands look like, but can't seem to find them anywhere :unsure

I've been looking too, and just today I finally found something. This site has pictures of what seems to be all of them, though there are a couple repeats and some share the same grip but are otherwise different. What I'd love to find out is which ones go with which months. I've seen a list somewhere of the date ranges and what sorts of wood the wands supposedly are (I know, they aren't really wood), and I've seen a couple photos of individual wands that say which date they go with. Maybe we can figure them all out by piecing it together that way.

Or somebody who goes there could just take some pictures and tell us. That would work too.

Here are some pics of the merch I just received today.

Even better, Universal could just do it themselves.

That's the Universal Orlando online store, which just opened their Wizarding World of Harry Potter section including all 13 birthday wands. They don't say the dates that go with them, so here you go:

December 24 - January 20 = Birch
January 21 - February 17 = Rowan
February 18 - March 17 = Ash
March 18 - April 14 = Alder
April 15 - May 12 = Willow
May 13 - June 9 = Hawthorn
June 10 - July 7 = Oak
July 8 - August 4 = Holly
August 5 - September 1 = Hazel
September 2 - September 29 = Vine
September 30 - October 27 = Ivy
October 28 - November 24 = Reed
November 25 - December 23 = Elder
