LOADS more pics of the body work I did today can be found on today's blog entry:

The Project Workbench: Shell On Chassis, Body Work Continues

WOW!! What a big step! You've got to be getting excited Matt!!

It just looks so incredible!

I am not sure if it has been asked or if it is confidential - But I am curious as to how much you are going to end up spending on this. Again not meaning to be presumptuous just interested.

Matt, will you be reinstalling the Caprice's original floor pan or getting something custom made? Also, what will you be doing for the firewall?

Sorry if this has been asked/answered already.

I showed this picture to my son, and asked if he knew who this belonged to, to which he replied:

"Matt Munson.....the coolest guy on the earth."

He didn't say Batman.....he knew it belonged to Matt Munson....who apparently is cooler than Batman.

Everything from the caprice has been either sold or tossed out. Because the dimensions of the MattMobile are SO different than those of the caprice, I decided to scratch build everything. It would have been more work to make the caprice stuff fit.

Hey Matt err IG88 (LOL), here's one for ya - have you found the Ferrari tail lights yet??

Was looking over at chickslovethecar and found your thread lol - it's amazing you get as much done as you do with posting up like this!!

Congrats Matt! Such a huge step!

Wheel placement looks great! Must have been amazing seeing it all line up when you finally were able to lower the body the first time!

:)

As always, thanks for the kind words and encouragement guys. I appreciate it :D

Today I've put in about 2 hours on body work. Really nothing to show other than subtle changes to some dings and dents here and there. The more I play with the shell, the more I realize just how much work there is to do on the thing. Still, at this point I'm still having fun with it, which is a good sign.

I don't know how you do all the cool things you do with the props, the videos and this car, but I tip my hat to you, sir. Following your threads have been an absolute joy. Thank you for sharing all your awesome work. :thumbsup

Thanks PV! Hearing stuff like that makes it all worth while :) I'm super happy to know that there's folks out there enjoying following along, and maybe learning something along the way.

Today turned out to be a VERY productive day, as I put in about five hours total with the car, just doing body work. I almost completely worked out a VERY big blister looking thing on the passenger side of the car, and I'm very pleased with the results. Two layers of new fiber on the front side, one on the back, and a ton of sanding. I'm very happy to have the drill attachment sander disk thingie to help with the heavy lifting.

Not much to show though, as pics don't really make much sense of stuff like that, but i"ll post some stuff to the blog later.

Tomorrow is the ONE YEAR anniversary of my first video for "Rise of the MattMobile", and I'm pretty stoked about that. I'll have a new video up to commemorate the occasion.

I am enjoying this thread alot. As someone who has help built more then one Batmobile. I say you are doing great! The body work for the cars we built away took the most time. They are big car and a lot of surface area to make perfect. That has to be lined up and glasses. So I can see where they might not be perfect right out of the mold. Great job Matt!
Thanks and congrates on year one done!
Mark
