Ironically, while searching for a 1968 Pontiac GTO similar to the one from "My Science Project", one of the actual cars has come up for sale on craigslist in the Los Angeles area. From my limited knowledge, there were several cars used to make the movie, with the hero car having a 455 engine. This is a 400 Pontiac engine so I guess was one of the stunt cars? While I am always skeptical of what is said on the internet, it seems like a lot of effort to make a fake blower (the movie one was a prop). It has the remains of a painted bumper and the correct snowflake wheels. And everything seems to have the right weathering over 40 years.
Wish it was in better condition otherwise I'd have used my Delorean fund to make an offer. But pretty awesome to see one of my favorite, albeit niche / guilty pleasure, movie cars show up. Hope there is documentation to prove it truly is a screen-used car, or even what scenes it might've been in.
Didn't include the ad to comply with thread rules, but easily searchable with included.
