Wow, considering that's what I'll be working on starting about tuesday, that's really helpful. Thanks dude!

Re: Starx- Iron Man MK3 - Articulation Tutorial Vid on last page

WOW! That's an amazingly helpful video. Thanks a lot Starx. I've bookmarked your video so ust as soon as my Iron Man suit gets back on track, I can go back and figure out what the heck to do about the joints.

Thanks again!

That's a really great tutorial. Nice work. One question would it be possible to use for sale signs instead? They are thinner but I don't think the parts need to be that thick. I don't know what those signs cost either. It might be cheaper to do it your way.

Re: Starx- Iron Man MK3 - Articulation Tutorial Vid on last page

it's no problem guys. As far as materials, I used pvc board and a trash an so far and as much as I an trll I don't think that the thickness matters much. The only part I an think of is the thickness of the ,aterial would help when it bends since the item does go through some amount of stress when being used. Just make sure it's not too thin or the pieces might break or tear off near the rivets.

Nice job Starx, those joints look great, going to have to incorporate this into my build as well, as i told you before you are one helpful fellow, keep up the great work bro!

Re: Starx- Iron Man MK3 - Articulation Tutorial Vid on last page

Thanks for making the video tutorial Starx!

sweet stuff Starx! Really good! :D

I actually decided to make an iron man helmet and maybe some other parts of iron man (i am 16 so i cant do much) :)

anyway I already peped the helmet and I collected files for every single part of iron man's body (Mark VI) :)

(the chin is a separate piece so i just put it clode to the rest of the helmet for this pic)

I have a question: how after fiberglassing and body filling do you paint your helmet so that it has that meallic look? i have seen many iron man helmets which have that but i just dont get how to do that :( can anyone help?

Re: Starx- Iron Man MK3 - Articulation Tutorial Vid on last page

It's more "how much bodyfiller and fiberglass do you need to get it smooth", really. And that's more a function of how patient and careful with details you are while sanding it between coats, and not putting on too much at a time.

Looks to me like you did some great work on the Pep (great detail work on the jaw, that would have drove me nuts) so as long as you stick to that degree of detail work and patience you should be fine.

Not sure how much you actually need for a helmet minimum though.

After you get your body filler sanded smooth to the point where you are happy with it, spray the helmet with some filler primer, this will let you see areas that have imperfections, sand them down or use some spot filler depending if they are high or low imperfections, then i give the final coat of primer a wet sand. Then pick your paint, spray, wet sand , clear coat. hope this helps ya out bro, your helmet looks great!

Re: Starx- Iron Man MK3 - Articulation Tutorial Vid on last page

Actually, I should ask: any suggestions on a good clear coat to use?

Re: Starx- Iron Man MK3 - Articulation Tutorial Vid on last page

Hey Starx, great video man. What did you use to attach the joint to the inside of the arms and legs? I didn't see any rivets or anything else holding it on.

Re: Starx- Iron Man MK3 - Articulation Tutorial Vid on last page

I used some slightly larger rivets to keep them in place. I tried some adhesives but after bending it a couple of times the pieces broke off from the leg. I suggest rivets. I'll post a pic of where I mounted them if it helps you when I get off from work tonight.

Re: Starx- Iron Man MK3 - Articulation Tutorial Vid on last page

Great video Starx! I'd love to see some more pictures or videos of that leg (and other parts) in action. You're doing great work man and its exciting to watch :)

Re: Starx- Iron Man MK3 - Articulation Tutorial Vid on last page
