Hey everyone. Ive been following along with a lot of the iron man progress on these pages and i wanted to add my own as well. I started over at the 405th forum, but this is one of the forums i go to a lot for inspiration. Mainly from people like Masked Rider, Finhead, Dark Asylum, and of course TMP. Im using the samuel ling files found over at the 405th thread from Carnage, along with a mix from Clarx Industries files and Robos files. Please note the files i am using ARE NOT MY OWN FILES. Although the fiels do not belong to me i am more than happy on being able to help you guys out if you have any questions on where to find files or anything else. Sorry for the blurry pictures..im using my phone. As always, comments are appreciated and welcome. :)

looks really nice so far, ...Love Ironman costumes, soo...more pics would be appreciated!, are you planning to paint it shinny or battle damaged?

Re: Starx - Iron Man Mark 3

I havent really decided on the battle damaged or shiny yet. I do like shiny though. But i love the way that his faceplate looks after he gets hit with the tanker.

Re: Starx - Iron Man Mark 3

Wow! Really like the shape of that helmet. Some of the pep ones look a little off but this one looks great. Not sure if that is because there are a variety of files out there from different creators or if it is all in the fold and tape.

How long do you have into this now? Keep it up! You and Finhead are really inspiring me to give this a stab.:thumbsup

Re: Starx - Iron Man Mark 3

JediJayne - Of course i do. Here ya go.
coofunkcurly - Thank you for the compliment. Im using dungbeetles helmet from over at the 405th. So far im about 2 months into the build. I had a lot of work during the last few months so progress was slow. But now im picking up since were slow again. Finhead is also one of my inspirations. His work is simply amazing.

Thanks for the response!

How difficult is it to resize the files before printing to allow for best fit for the wearer? Is that a lot of just trial and error or is there a method? Or is it a 1 size fits all scenario?

you can set a certain scale but its pretty much trial and error based on your proportions

Hey Starx, :p

Re: Starx - Iron Man Mark 3

Coofunkcurly - No problem. As far as the sizing goes, the reason i am a few months in the working on what you see above is because i started over (twice) because the proportions of the thing didn fit my tastes. So i rescaled....and rescaled....and rescaled... and like stealth said, its a trial and error based on your own proportions. The pepakura program helps some in giving you an approximate size of the pieces before you print, but i dont tend to rely on it too much. I usually just print off a bit of a certain piece to make sure it fits according to size, and then go on with the rest if it is the right scale.
Stealth - hey buddy. I finally made it to the RPF for a change hows the master chief coming?

Re: Starx - Iron Man Mark 3

This looks amazing! I just signed up on the 405th site. I'm new to this type of prop building....do you happen to have a direct link to the files you used? I see a lot of pics and references to them on 405th but can't seem to find it...sorry, I know this is such a noob question :p

Re: Starx - Iron Man Mark 3

Thank you, Sir! Sorry, I don't mean to get OT. Starx, this really does look incredible....so much so I think you may have given me a push to look into one for myself. Any plans on your arc reactor yet?

Re: Starx - Iron Man Mark 3

That looks really great! Its so much stuff beeing made with paper now these days. Look forward to se it done.

Re: Starx - Iron Man Mark 3

Hi Starkx, nice to see you here too!!!

Nice work keep it going on ;)

Re: Starx - Iron Man Mark 3

Thanks for the pics of the back! It's one of my favorite parts of the IM suit, but one that I think gets overlooked sometimes

Re: Starx - Iron Man Mark 3

Stealth - thank you for posting the working link.

obiwan2 - as far as the arc reactor. yes. i have taken some interest in molding pieces with polymorph and going from there with the wiring.

TMP - thank you for your acknowledgement. It means a lot to me coming from you that you approve. Ive been following your progress as well and must say i am quite inspired by your work. I have actually talked to you on the phone before, but that was very long ago when you just started out with your build. Im looking forward to see more pictures of your build hopefully soon!

Zabana - hey there. Thank you for posting your helmet/faceplate topic over on the 405th. its very helpful!

Jedijayne - i agree. i believe the back is very important as well. Hence i went with a different spine that looks more organic in a sense than mechanical. I feel it improves the flow of the back quite well. I have not finished with the flight stabilizers as of yet, but i should have those on pretty soon. That way the 'bulky boxer' appeal will be there.

Re: Starx - Iron Man Mark 3

Awesome work! I follow it on 405th. It's impressive how good is the general shape and the details (not easy with a thin stff like the paper!!)

Keep the good work!!

Re: Starx - Iron Man Mark 3

Nairod - yeah, it is a challenge at some points. But i reinforce the paper in key areas to help them keep their detial where needed. Im not saying its easy, i myself have pepped almost the entire suit at least 2 times trying to get the proportions and scaling just right. Thank you for the thumbs up!
