Re: Starx- Iron Man MK3 - Articulation Tutorial Vid on last page

It is called EL sheet (electroluminescent sheeting) from what i have been told it is not very bright in rooms with alot of light, better to go with LEDS

great, thanks :D

Re: Starx- Iron Man MK3 - Articulation Tutorial Vid on last page

Starx, I hope you don't mind me using your idea on Robo's pep build thread. I did give credit where credit is due. I just thought that your idea would be perfect for the upper thighs as well.

Re: Starx- Iron Man MK3 - Articulation Tutorial Vid on last page

and what idea is that? The riveting idea was not mine. I got the idea from Stealth. Hes the one that showed everyone the design idea for the articulated parts. What do you mean for the upper thigh? i plan on using the thigh connectors with a hinge system in order to pull it off. Should work quite well.

I'm starting work on this very plan tonight with mine. I'll post pics once I'm done.

Re: Starx- Iron Man MK3 - Articulation Tutorial Vid on last page

I've thought about it and played w it bit it doesn't work out like I would like it too. I don't have enough room in my legs and arms for two setd of articulated joints...sadly.

Are you referring to the compression joints to the rear and shell articulation in the front? (in this instance, the knees)

Re: Starx- Iron Man MK3 - Articulation Tutorial Vid on last page

Dont mean to double post. Though curious..... You mentioned that you had to redo the shoes created by robo. What size is your foot? Did the standard size prove to be to short or tad big?
Thanks for the assistance..... You are def doing amazing job!!!!

Re: Starx- Iron Man MK3 - Articulation Tutorial Vid on last page

Well Starx I've been working on some sets to go in the back of my TMP suit and this is what I've come up with. The materail is a thick red rubber which I cut from a laundry basket :) It's not yet painted in the pics, hence the bright red finish. I've lightly sanded the surface to prepare for paint. Just wanted to say thanks for the tips and vids on youtube, very handy indeed:thumbsup. I've gone with a second layer behind mine to give them a little detail. I've also folded them so they've taken on the more square flat look instead of a rounded look. I'm really happy with the way these have turned out. Here's a few pics...

Hello Members of The RPF,
First let me appologize for the necro bump of my thread. I hope its not too late to get back on topic. Ive had a really rough time here at home. Ive had to move out of my apartment, work has been extremely busy (isnt it always in a kitchen job), ive been broken up with with my x girlfriend of about 5 years, and i got the pleasure of experiencing a car wreck first hand. Please dont worry about me, other than a broken arm and a few minor scratches and bumps im fine.. plus... pain killers are awesome. That being said, i have had some free time in the last two weeks and decided to jump back onto this project of mine. And as you can see, ive made some progress. Ive now fully completed the pepakura section of my build, and all parts fit and work from what i think are the best proportions of what i can build according to my body. Ive put a ton of late nights into this build, and even though the iron man mark V (amazing new movie by the way!!!) is an amazing armor, and lets not forget war machine, im still in love with the design of the Mark III. And so, im back on the build. Im working as much as i can to get this thing done by halloween, and i hope to make the deadline. As ive said, the first step is done. Things ive completed include: new forearms from dancing fool, the pelvis battery packs, also dancing fool, the shinguards (idea from finhead) the thighs (dancing fool), the shoes (callmemilo i believe? along with some changes made by me in pepakura), the hand file as well ( i forget from who the file was), the torso detail parts by the ribs, and also the new cod (cod design also from dancing fool). I want to thank those of you that checked back to see on my progress, but as i already said, i did have some really hard times in my personal life that needed dealing with (and medication :) ) in order to continue on. Halloween is only a few months away. Lets get back to it shall we?

Re: Starx- Iron Man MK3 - Costume Done, Major Update

Hey everyone. So i finally have the big update to you and i have to appologize for the wait. So ive been through one heck of a trip. I started last halloween and now we are where we are now. I worked through long nights and learned just how much work goes into one of these amazing pepakura works. I want to say first and foremost a big thank you to everyone that contributed in the pepakura process. Thank you to all for your hard work to give us all something to put together through pepakura. Next i especially want to thank Juice for the hand lights over at 405th and Stealth for the help when i needed it. Also I would like to thank Masked Rider for the amazing helmet he made and an especially big thank you to a fellow member here named Kagn. A few weeks ago i was bringing my suit to my parents house when during the 3 hour trip the back and chest completely broke in half. They were only at the resin and fiberglass stage and the pressure from the trunk closing snapped them. So i needed help, and through luck began to communicate with Kagn on his own build and was fortunate enough to be able to buy a cast of the chest and neck from him. The back i busted out in just a few days ( a lot of long nighters lol). But the end result i think is well worth it. Again, a big thank you to everyone on this forum and the 405th. I think without everyone else our costumes wouldnt be where they are now.

So now for the update. Below you'll find a video of last nights halloween shenanigans and also a little preview of my buddies costume i put together for him for the techno concert "Moogfest" in asheville that we put together. As always im more than happy to answer any questions and help where i can. I hope you enjoy!

Thats amazing! You just took my concept to a whole new level. Very nice!

Hey Starx - you need to re-mix the audio on your YouTube vid: can't hear you talking over the music!

the suit looks awesome! I'm glad you finally were able to finish it, despite all your setbacks. Way to stick with it man. Cant wait to see some nice photos of it displayed on your mannequin :)

I must say it was a pleasure to follow your progress thread from beginning to end. It was your original threads on the 405th and sectionsixteen that inspired me to get into this whole pepakura/iron man craze.

I loved the "its so awesome! You're so creative" from the girl at 2:36 and "slap it down! Slap it down, Iron man!" bahaha
