Go to the scrap yard, make a little money.

I'm sure I can think of something a bit more interesting ;)

Korbanth's stuff is amazing. The engineering in things like his L6 and his new crossguard blows my mind. If you wanted an idealized interpretation of the prop, with lots of fun bells and whistles, you'd be hard pressed to do better.

Thanks guys. It looks like the machinist didn't fully update the cnc programing for the grenade section with the newest design (the one I made after the prototype came back showing the bottom ring section was too wide). He moved the set screw, but didn't adjust the lathe profile. So, I've got a box of grenade sections here where the lathe profile matches the prototype and not the final design.

Here's a pic

If it’s adaptable to other sabers perhaps it would make a great option for “franken-sabers” or whatever we call lightsabers put together with mismatched parts??? Nick at Starfall lightsabers may be able to use them.

Ps is this run completely closed?

Now I just need to figure out what to do with hundreds of 95% correct v2 grips :facepalm:lol

how many wound up being made (curious)?

I honestly would second the idea of selling them to the DIY after market. There’s plenty of other parts and incomplete sabers/ideas out there that could benefit from the addition of any semi accurate spares. In fact I’d even be interested considering my own Frankenstein modded SF V2.

Heck I’d buy a reject ring section if dan autographed it!!

Hey guys,

I have some bad news. I went over the parts today and the grenade section is not to spec. I have contacted the shop and informed them. I'm not waiting for a response.
I'll update this thread as soon as I have news.

I'm sorry if this delay is a disappointment to you guys. I can only promise that no one is more disappointed then me and I will try and get this fixed as soon as possible,

Dan

Thanks for the update. But this is quite common for outsourced hilt production that the first batches aren't right. Happy to wait for them to get it right.

Like I said— I’d buy a wrong grenade for a custom saber

I would too!

regardless, thanks for putting in the time and effort to nail this one. It will be a pride and joy in my collection.

I'm turning my 1st run into an Obi Wan stunt with bubbles and everything!

I literally just stripped the paint off of my 2nd run V2 to do the same thing. I'm going to have my machinist friend lathe down the chamfer on the emitter plate, too. Now I've got to start researching RC motors for the spinning blade...

Your friend want to do mine also?

That's what I'm gonna do too. I'm looking for the red on/off toggle switch. Anyone know where to find one?

I’ve been looking for months... seems like everyone I find is too big or too small...

I also found red toggle switch covers.

I’m guessing the original switch was from a guitar, just a random guess since I found google searches of vintage guitars with switches looking pretty close

I'm not sure if guitar toggles are the right avenue. From my experience, they'd be too big to fit into a saber. Plus I'm not sure that I've ever seen a red switch; they're usually black, white, or cream colored. Were the toggle caps you'd seen for guitar toggles? Now, that's not to say that the toggle cap couldn't be painted, but the hole on the saber would have to be about 1/2" wide to accommodate, say, a Gibson-type 3 way toggle. Micro toggles might work, but all of the ones I've seen are either nickel/chrome, black, or gold, and are of a paddle shape. I'm also not sure how wide the shaft of the switch would be, but it would probably be closer to the hole on the saber.

I'm wondering if they might have used a push-push button to turn the motor on and off. In my hours of catalog perusing, I did see some push-push buttons with longer red shafts, but all of those bookmarks are on an old computer in storage, plus I could never get a sense of the dimensions of the buttons.

Hey Gang! Something like this maybe?....

Check here for the dimensions...

Not sure what size you're looking for, but if someone can do some guess-ti-measuring, it'd make your search easier if we knew what to look for! ;)

Re: Sign up thread for NEW Luke V2 light saber run. Spring 2018 edition (SIGN UP CLO

Could the ring sections be recut to make an Obi Wan grenade section?

Hey Dan,
Have you heard any updates from the shop?

This thread is on my mind too much during the day!
