RS Hero Stormtrooper with Screen Lineage (first edition)

They adjusted the production of the later ones in the run after the first ones. Newer ones are wider than the first ones sent. Also have a shinier plastic.
I think you may be right just measured my number 5 one and it’s as wide as the stunt and not the hero in the pictures shown a few posts ago, not too impressed to be honest and disappointed RS didn’t address it with buyers of early numbers

For reference the one I own and measured is #38. Also shiny off white plastic, not dull like their stunt.

I actually prefer the dull but regardless am happy with my shiny Hero assuming the originals were shiny.

Can someone confirm the originals were more shiny?

Thanks

I'm also curious if RS did change the width/plastic in later builds.
Having said that, I just measured my Hero (#6) and it is pretty much the same width as the Hero in the picture posted earlier, and is wider than my RS Sandtrooper.

RS Prop Masters ANH Hero Stormtrooper helmet #98 arrived. Beautiful helmet:

Wow. 98! Still waiting for #60. Getting a bit worried, the ridge above the center tooth and adjacent holes appears overly soft on these. Compared to the original hero helmets it should be much more defined.

Here's some photos of the Lucasfilm Archives original hero helmet (without eye lenses) that was displayed at Celebration IV in L.A. The first two photos were taken without camera flash switched on. Remaining photos were with the camera flash.

My RS looks like the original. So cool.

...and I can check this off my bucket list too.

I wish RS could get more consistently accurate with the angle / position of the tube stripes. Everything else is such a brilliant achievement at matching the hero helmet, but the tube stripes flaring off a too much of an angle bugs my OCD-ness.

Following up from my earlier post, Measured from the outside edges of the ears, my RS hero helmet is almost 0.75” wider than the RS stunt.

My first RS ABS helmet was beautiful - accept for the tube stripes, which were all crammed in to the front half of the tube - not stretched out down the length of the tubes. I ended up selling the helmet because of it.

My HDPE RS helmet, the tube stripes are perfect. ...all depends who in their studio is painting your helment. I believe Beth painted my HDPE, and Rob finished with the chipping. So YMMV.

Thanks for your reply. It seems such a shame to have all the accuracy and attention to detail given to creating these things, then falling at the last hurdle by not continuing the attention to detail with he shape / placement of the painted markings.

Here's my #31 Hero alongside a CMK. Pic was taken on an iPhone 11 Pro from 8' with 2x zoom. I inserted a length of Plastruct tube at the midline of the back/cap (not against the face) so the Hero measures 3/4" wider than the Sandie. Without the tube, both are near the same width. The face of the Hero has more shine in comparison to the duller back/cap. Based on the pics Chris posted above, I suspect the Hero is only wider in my mind because it's been discussed as a distinguishing characteristic for so many years. Regardless, I'm very happy to have this helmet.
