Rocketeer “Veepy” Jetpack 3D printable kit project.

Small update, after a bit of tweaking with the settings on Bambu Lab's "tree" support settings, and running the print order by object instead of by layer, managed to get a full set of the fins printed with the pins. Fingers ache a bit from the "pop and twist" method I had to use to safely remove the supports (otherwise the pin at the thinner end would break off with the supports).

Still pulling support material off the main hull piece. I'll do a test print of the upper "cooling fins" to see how it comes out in FDM.

Some more updates. Figured I'd give a try at the radiator fins on the X1C's, holy moly I am genuinely impressed with the results. Tree supports came right off and the fins feel solid, minor bit of cleanup to do and the pins should go right into their corresponding holes. May bring these home with me to test with the piece I got from gnolivos.

Finished the build this past weekend. The helmet was a gift from a co-worker which ended up starting this whole journey. When my daughter saw the helmet, she asked me to go as The Rocketeer for Halloween. This was such a fun project! I learned a lot about finishing and painting. There are some spots that I wish I could go back and fix, but I had a hard deadline with Halloween. The harness, jacket, and helmet insert were sewn by my mom.
I know this is old, but do you happen to remember where you found the harness plate and how did you attach it to your pack??

I used to have the fins available in resin at shapeways. Unfortunately they went bankrupt and deleted everything before someone else took over their site.

Want to recall the original owners retook control of the company and are trying to get it operational again.

Not sure if you could arrange something with them in a similar fashion, but I've worked with Stratasys for various prints for both work and personal projects.

.....
Hoping to get some traction on my jetpack in the near future, been absolutely swamped between work and a remodel at home to dedicate any time to finishing clean-up. The whole setup just sits there on my laser cutter at work, taunting me. At least it looks damn good even in a rough state.

I've got the files and the two additional resin parts - going to embark on the journey soon and the printer is ready to go (just need to rearrange the workshop to make room!) - looking for a good helmet file to go with it if anyone has any suggestions. Must say the Veepy kit and instructions are downright amazing. Really grateful.

Haven't been working on the jetpack much as of yet, but got inspired to get a helmet underway. Gave me a reason to pick up a small vacuum former (Vaquform DT2), having a friend help prep the 3d printed lens bucks as a favor. Helmet's printed from PLA, been glued together, sanded, weld beads of KwikSeal, and gotten two coats of Testors' "True Gold". The photo doesn't really convey the color range in the paint. Will give it a clear coat, do a weathering pass, and then seal that. Already have a liner from Valor Replicas ready to go in it once that's all done and the lenses are sorted.
