Re: Rey's Quarterstaff (Star Wars: Force Awakens) Resin Kit (First Molds Pg 3)
It's been a busy week with casting so far.
Base kits will start going out by the end of the week. The deluxe ones will have to wait until parts arrive.
Here is also a mini tutorial for adding more texture to the parts.
The basic texture is a good start, but with the molding process, it came out a little too smooth for an super accurate replica.
Adding more texture is really quite simple. I used this textured spray paint.
After all cleanup was done to the parts, I sprayed it down. It adds some decent grit. There are larger grit spray paints, and probably couldn't hurt to use that on a few spots, just to add variation, but I felt that this one was good enough for what I wanted. This was one light to medium coat.
It has some different colors in it, so I did a flat black base coat on top. It's hard to tell in the pictures, but it does make a big difference, especially with the feel.
The biggest improvement is that it covers the woodgrain texture on the wooden dowel.
I'm finishing the first one right now. I'll post up a diagram with measurements later this week.If a buyer should want to make the staff the exact same size of the film prop, what length pole would they require?
To be clear, the length of the pole, not the length after the tips have been added.
