I would say that the test casting was a success!

Once I get more resin on Monday, I can start to perfect the casting process.

Wow, Justin, I'm really impressed you were able to get those springs inside the collets to cast so accurately. That area seems like it would be a nightmare for air bubbles, etc. Well done!

Wow, Justin, I'm really impressed you were able to get those springs inside the collets to cast so accurately. That area seems like it would be a nightmare for air bubbles, etc. Well done!

They are definitely a nightmare to cast, but I'm able to work my magic. I'll grab some close up shots. The detail is perfect.

You're pretty far down on the waitlist, and the first run isn't even shipped yet, so you're looking at at least a month, most likely more... unless you can bribe someone for their spot, LOL!

I went ahead and test fit the parts on a 1" wooden dowel, and everything fits perfect!

The texture came out very nice on these parts, but adding more grit will help the overall look. I'll work on getting this one painted for myself over the next few days. Still waiting on resin to begin casting.

Thanks for answering my question, JJ. Even though it may be a while, I'm definitely still interested in a resin parts kit (possibly the upgraded version if that becomes available). Please LMK if I need to pay or place a deposit to hold my spot on the waitlist...no bribes from me, LOL.

Alright, folks, here's what we've got.

The 'Deluxe Kit' will be an additional $100, for a total of $265usd shipped. There will be no additional shipping cost.

This kit will include:

1) All resin staff pieces

2) Two weathered Enfield slings sewn together just like the screen-used prop, with accurate brass lobster swivel clasps and nickel triglide slider.

3) Accurate leather strappings w/ d-rings and snaps

4) A bundle of wrappings for the handle (muslin + waxed cloth like on the screen staff, unweathered so you can achieve the look you want)

5) Fuller's Earth Combo Pack - three one-ounce packets of Slate, Cocoa Brown and Sand.

All you will need are your pipe/dowel, and your various paints.

I will contact those in the first run to see if anyone is interested in upgrading. Those in future runs will have the option of either the normal kit or the deluxe when they pay.

If a buyer should want to make the staff the exact same size of the film prop, what length pole would they require?

To be clear, the length of the pole, not the length after the tips have been added.

AFAIK, the screen-length of the staff was 6' exactly (based on DR's height of 5'7").
