"Reddish Jammer" Y-Wing Build

I've never seen a reference photo of the studio Red Jammer with an American flag on the engine. Is that on the "studio" model or just a cheeky joke for the Saturn V parts?

Kamandi,

It's a "reference model" so the viewer can see how "this came from that" -- in this case, how the Saturn V influenced the design, shape, size, and aesthetics of the Y-Wing Fighter.

You are correct! That is a perfect match. Thank you!

(I thought the 1/72 Revell Ginga was only on the Millennium Falcon radar dish subassembly, so this is great to know as one more of many crossover kit source donors)

Hey Guys!

Can you please tell me from wich kits these parts are?

Thanks, Adolfo

I looked through my notes.
#2 is from the Frog 1/72 Beaufighter #3 I have no clue. And the part that looks similar to #2 I used to know but I can't find in my notes, frustrating. I know you didn't ask about that one just venting.

#3 "may be" or "may not be" the original confirmed kit donor greeblie that was used by ILM. It seems to be the best current guess. Others have made this subassembly using a similar piece from the Airfix 1/24 Hurricane, and while I agree that this one "looks better" because it is smaller (than the Hurricane equivalent) and may actually be the confirmed donor, it is still technically an open question as to what this piece is from on the original model.

Also, the #2 piece you asked about, the M-shaped pieces, these can also be found in the Airfix 1/72 Petylyakov PE-2.

Hi Studio Kitbash!

I think part# 3 is really from the Revell V-2.. It has the exact same shape and size of the piece used by ILM... Who knows it is the actual greeblie?

Thanks for let me know that the part #2 can be also found in the Airfix kit!

Yeah, I tend to think you're right. But I've been surprised many times before, so it wouldn't surprise me if this wasn't the source kit. Typically, a kit is used for multiple greeblies, and so far, I haven't seen the Revell V-2 as the source kit for any other greeblie besides this one piece. And it has a LOT of awesome-looking greeblies.

So here's a question, for anyone who has built models beyond the Y-Wing, Millennium Falcon, and X-wing: do you KNOW of any other confirmed donors that come from the Revell V-2 and that are used on other ILM props? And if so, which props, and using which parts from the V-2?

I don't know of any but the Airfix 1/24 Stuka donates 1 part to the TIE Bomber and I don't know of anything else that uses Stuka parts.

Good point -- but Tie Bomber is ESB and/or ROTJ, correct? There are no Tie Bombers in ANH, and ANH is pretty much the only thing I'm collecting kits for and obsessing over.

Also, I have the 1/24 Stuka and it doesn't have a lot of "awesome" greeblies the way the Hurricane or Harrier does.

You are correct the TIE Bomber is an Empire ship, my point was that there are model kits that were used very sparingly. Don't know if there's anything like for A New Hope.
