New model for OWK three holes saber... (New pics on pg 13. 11-17-2024)

If you look at the chromed resin stunts that have survived since filming, you'll see that almost all of them are missing their plating. It's unfortunately a fact of life that chrome plating on resin props is very difficult to get consistent flawless results. At this point I've spent thousands of dollars trying to produce plated resin props and lost almost all of it on warped castings, bubbling plating, or plating that looks nice at first but breaks down over time. When I was shipping the General abroad, all of the control boxes that looked great when I packed them up, were loosing their plating mid flight do to temperature and pressure changes that were impossible to control.

I did offer TXQ the rights to produce a chrome OWK ep2 style saber (based on the prop made for the D+ flashback sequences). I designed it with a plated steel body, to hold the chrome well and give an unparalleled strength for dueling. But they weren't interested in running with it.

What about the same people maybe plate Romans parts? aren't his AS pommel plastic then plated? they have excellent plating but at this point if it was easier to get a true AOTC chrome version, I would settle for steel or aluminium. I know not true to the prop but if it was the only way I'd rather that iteration than the kenobi series version. Which I've only now seen since you posted. It's not much of a want for me, assuming for alot of people in comparison to chrome AOTC. Especially when the scene is based on the AOTC era so more reason I'm not a fan, it's just a stunt that's far from the prequels produced. I wonder if it was casted or printed these days and what their base was, As they used MR hero Props so it's a kind of idealised as oppsoed to prequel production. I'd be more interested in the Stunt used, the OWK version from the vader duels of Kenobi. The one you modelled up a while ago.

Was there ever a decent shot of this saber in that flash back? Everything's moving too fast. I know we barely seen much of the chrome Belt hanger for AOTC on screen but that's everywhere media wise, visual dictionary etc. Much more desirable as opposed to this stunt version I've only seen today and my two cents the almost flush cut outs I'm not a fan of. I understand you may have the thought we might be burned on this model thoughts are just that but this one my answer yes. However AOTC faithful either resin or metal hell yes without a slither of doubt!

I completely agree with your comment on making back up heroes after frying my brain abit more I found that the 2 primary Saltshaker props Heritage Auctions and Prop store version I oddly thought were the same hilt but it seems some very very minor difference notably I noticed the LED bezels are not the same between the 2 and yet the Heritage Auctions version is closer to TPM bezels they aren't anywhere the same they don't appear to have the sharp edges but a less thicker one than Prop stores. I could be totally wrong about the difference in the edges but it does appear a difference in finish Hertiage looking more Aluminum as opposed to chrome on Prop Stores.

Then the Leds themselves sit in different points of the Bezels, could also be lighting but what appears between a frosted and a shiny LED.

Then there's also a kinda squished knurling on the Brass Valve. One looking more fresh ith better knurling.

Again what could be lighting but what appears a small difference between the Gloss of the black parts. Aluminum finish may be different Heritage version appears to have no or less visible brushing, Appears a little cleaner.

O ring appears to be chunkier if I'm correct. (The "interrupted" step cut appears the same.

Pommel cubes are also different in a sense of I don't know those I've been staring at too hard as some are rounding theirs but I'm not sure if I see a "chamfered" edge ESPECIALLY to the Heritage Auctions version. The finish between the 2 certainly. Maybe the Prop stores were rounded from polishing, I don't think I see chrome plating. I seem to see brush/machine marks of sorts especially on the Heritage version. And then we have the 3rd version aswell that we know of with the Red LEDS all round and has the rod set up. Along with the most notable definitely chrome with some warped out cubes. Thank you for coming to my Tedtalk lol

I would like to point out that the TPM/AOTC bezels are a horrible nightmare to work with, especially if they have trouble threading in. SO easy to slice up your fingers.

And it should be noted that the hole in the ROTS brass valve part either has a smaller hole, or is slightly larger in diameter than the TPM version. The top lip looks thicker, but I haven't taken any measurements, yet. I presume a TPM-style rivet will fit in there, but it's good to be sure.

Did you have luck with finding a rivet yet? Maybe PM Dewy or Guabe I know i need to do the same thing aha

Or do you have the static run to see if the Rivet from that would fit? I'm still checking tracking eagerly waiting to find out the same

I think it shows up in the D+ Behind the Scenes and it’s an MR LE

Setting aside my complete lack of interest in (and utter contempt for) anything produced by The Mouse, I have no interest in their low-effort props, either. I already have an MR Graflex, as well as a TGS. I don't need yet another MR with a Covertec in it.

Nor do I need a MR AOTC, since my Korbanth version is already a darn faithful copy of the MR.

Those are injection molded. It produces parts that don't interact with the plating in the same way as resin does because of the gasses in it
Ohhh I see. I don't understand the procees with the de-gas is it just that overtime they degas always? or just a small period of time? or are the gasses not released until the reaction of plating? I doubt a whole saber could be injection moulded to plate better aha so yeah wondering on ABS or something or yeah metal I think Saberz was producing their new run of anakin in ABS chrome plated if I remember correctly

Edit - after checking their first run was SLA. their new prototype is FDM not plated so unsure of the intent on materials.

Maybe you and Dewy can do a run with his CAD model from last year's tpm run and machine the aluminum in brass and have it chromed?? Would be an amazing option that I think most would be in on ;)

Where's everyone seeing tracking info? I checked PayPay and I don't see any details. Just want to be sure I didn't miss something.

I found a email from AtStarsEnd in my spam folder just the other day, Black Friday I think it was.
Dan just puts off the junk vibe to my email lol, looks like I’m not alone. I hope I don’t miss a message about that TXQ! ;)

I usually get it via email, have you checked the spam?
I have been checking and no email came aside from the confirmation email for both of my orders. The only reason I am concerned is that another RPF member lives near me and he received his at the start of the week and I know he ordered after me. I'd like to be sure that there wasn't an issue before the kits are all sold out.

Pm me your address and order number I’ll call him tonight

Why not PM me directly instead of posting in a public forum and hoping that I might stumble across your message?
