New model for OWK three holes saber... (New pics on pg 13. 11-17-2024)

It wasn't in the final cut, but if look look at the full shot, you can tell it was Ewan's real hair and not the wig used in the pick-ups. He had shaved his head for 'Black Hawk Down'.

The resin belt hanger was used at all different stages of production:

It was even used in some publicity stills:

wow!

I could be mistaken but I also think this just looks like the Ep 1 hero. The emitter plate does look thicker (and a different color metal) to me, as well as whatever is in the brass valve looks different... but man, even with the crooked emitter ring it lines up lol nice work!
I wonder if they added a new emitter cap because by 2001 it was entirely covered with rust (this is what happened to the Qui-Gon hero). So maybe they made an aluminum cap to cover the steel washer in case of close up shots.

Trying to think when this part is.. I can’t remember

Deleted scene. Qui-Gon examines the saber after he destroys the STAP that's chasing Obi-Wan in the forest. The saber was shorted out when Obi-Wan was in the water after he exited the droid landing ship he'd stowed aboard.

That's why he's seen running away from the STAP--his saber isn't working.

I would also double down on that being the TPM saber. Unlike most movies where they always start from scratch remaking props from previous films they did keep some original props. The Jedi belt pouches are the same through all 3 movies for example.

Dressing a Galaxy book scan has a high res pic of the EP2 saber, you have brighten it up in PS though.

anyone have a high res pic of this? I think it was from EP2 promo

That's what I was saying, upthread. They spruced the prop up to reuse in AOTC (including a replacement for a rusted washer), but mostly ended up using the chromed resin copies.

This is from a photo used on the cover of an issue of Premiere Magazine, before TPM was released. In fact, it was the first time I noticed that young Obi-Wan would NOT have the Alec Guinness/MK 1 design in the film.
Ah, found it. For some reason it made it into my EP2 refs.

Are there any other shots from this display?! The Anakin is there! Message me if you’d like, to keep the thread on track :)

We know that it was on hand for ROTS filming and that there was originally plans for Obi-wan to loose his old saber and either build a new one or get a new one.

But, I think that it wasn't made for ROTS, but was instead upgraded from an AOTC hero. The reason I say this is because there is BTS video of Ewan showing off a hero from AOTC, and it is not the TPM hero. Also, when MR was referencing their replicas, back before ROTS, SD told me that he'd examined a metal OWK hero (this was when they were producing the OWK Ep1 EE, and that saber is very different from the TPM hero we all know and love).

Once I have a prototype in hand, I'll take it out to the cape and make a video with Halliwax detailing the history of the different props. It will be wicked

Do you happen to know what MR used to make their AOTC Obi? One of the resin hilts?

I remember talking about this with SD back in the day. For the aotc LE saber, Steve told me that they based it on the chrome resin stunt bc the metal hero was lost. But, years later they produced the EE and I once again asked SD about it (he used to host a rpf prop party out in King Of Prusia PA where we'd show off builds, go out to dinner, then head back to his place to see his collection in his basement) and he told me that there was a metal hero on hand that they could reference. So, what I always thought happened was, when it became EE time, SD went into the archives and referenced the Salt Shaker, but then modified the design to incorporate all the particular elements that Jedivic (circa 2002 Lightsaberworld.com | Welcome) had told everyone about in the creation of his saber. In order to make the most ideal replica. (ps. The secret pics are hidden behind the moon on the second page of Jedivic's page)

Any more shots of the Anakin AOTC!?!?

Not that there was any real doubt, but I found a less-cropped version of the Dressing A Galaxy photo, confirming that it’s from the AOTC publicity shoot.

Looking on YouTube I can’t find it, is there actual video footage of this?
