It looks like the salt-shaker belt-hanger Ewan wore on-set omitted the o-ring on the emitter. Halliwax decided to include it, and it appears to gave been an intended part of the design.

I only saw one photo. And I wouldn’t have realized it if it wasn’t for teecrooz pointing it out

These images? I always assumed it was what was holding the saber up like a wire frame stand on the back cause assuming this is the same exhibit of course, one image it's there then it's not. And yeah as Halliwax mentioned it's not on the BTS photos of Ewan wearing it.

Went and looked for more photos, and I think you are correct. If you look at the Qui-Gon saber, it has a wire frame that wraps around it to hold it up.

Very cool catch guys!!! I personally think it looks a bit sleeker without the O-ring, but am looking forward to trying it both ways! But I think you guys may be right and that what we think is the vanishing O-Ring, may indeed just be the stand/holder. Cheers! Counting the minutes until 5pm - we’re almost there!!
