But i have been bitten by the BUG and Im now looking at making more costumes/props. I've missed the registration in the past to join here, but thanks to FbJ for letting me know the registration was on again. I wasn't missing out this time.
Phew here at last.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hi everyone! I'm an amateur artist and costumer. I've been a member of TheDentedHelmet for a little while and I wanted to join up here to broaden my horizons a bit.
In short, I'm hoping to keep learning and I think this will be a great place to do just that.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hello All!

It's great to finally be a part of the RFP! I collect antique historical books and much to my wife's dismay, now have a collection that overflows all our bookcases. I have recently become interested in collecting movie book replicas and have started with the Nine Gates and the Redbook of Westmarch from Lotr.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hi all,

My name is Dion and been a hobbyist for the first part of my life and recently made the decision to seriously pursue prop building.
missed the previous opportunity to become a member here last time around when I was building my Aliens pulse rifle. (big thank you to Matsuo)
Am a huge James Cameron and Starwars fan and look forward to posting progress on on my next build.

Cheers!

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Long time lurker and now able to finally join and post. There is some amazing talent here! Looking forward to immersing myself in the community. :)

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Greetins -

My name is Jason. I've been lurking here for a long time, waiting for the day I could finally register.

I've been a movie nut since I was a kid, and when I was a boy, I collected the United Cutlery Rambo replicas...and some Indiana Jones stuff...and when Lord of the Rings hit, I started collecting the UC replica blades. I've got ten of them, as well as some of the really obvious movie stuff (Blade's sword, Marto Highlander, Hellboy's Samaritan). I discovered The RPF while trying to figure out if there was anyone anywhere who had tried to make a replica of the Deckard Gun from Blade Runner...

I know, right?! Moron...

Somehow, I never understood there might be a culture devoted to this sort of thing.

I've gone to creative lengths to get in contact with some of the people who post here in order to make purchases and share info, so it's really cool to finally be able to simply post.

It's also pretty terrifying. My friends think the resin kits I paint up and glue lights onto are really impressive - but they would tell me I'm a loser in a heartbeat if they got a look at the incredible talent on display here.

I'm oftentimes broke, but always ready to by something junky and turn it into something cool. I'm into all of the stuff that everyone is into here - with the exception of Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate, and other things with "Star" in the name (exception - Starship Troopers) - so if you're looking to hawk Blade Runner, Aliens, Firefly, Lord of the Rings, Fifth Element, or Freddy stuff - you've got yourselves a new mark.

I'm really, really excited to be here. I wanna' go take pictures of the stuff I've built and painted and put them up so people can rip on'em!!

Seriously - I'm psyched for the criticism.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hello there I am new to the prop making family. My name is Susan and I just started as a browser soon to be maker of props (fingers crossed). I hope to learn from you all and share some of my own props eventually.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I am not sure what I have to add to this forum as I do not do anything significant in terms of costuming or prop making, however, I enjoy the genre very much and am fascinated by the creativity here with the films and television shows I love.

Thanks.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Thank you for allowing me to register for the board,

Hi all. The name is Eric and im excited to finally be on here. I get on here all the time drooling over all of the star wars props, especially the han solo blasters!!! Have not done a ton of prop work myself, mostly in the paper arena, but i would love to learn the inner workings of resin. Look forward to chatting it up with everyone.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

hi all, long time reader that finally just registered.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hi Folks!

Been lurking since mid-October, drawn by a Google search for Iron Man costumes!

I have my BFA and in college scratch-built a Boba Fett helmet and quasi-costume. Mostly I've been doing woodworking and furniture design in my spare time, but I'm an avid LEGO sculptor.

In 2000 I started designing and building a minifig-scale Cinderella Castle from Walt Disney World (Disney is another passion of mine). I was building it at work, but when I changed jobs it came home, and eventually, I just decided to deconstruct it for now. Here's some shots:

Of course, while I was deconstructing, brick by brick, I got "creative" again, and I started to plan and build a 1/305 scale Enterprise (Star Trek II variant, the scale centers around the size of a tiny docking shuttle like what Scotty takes Kirk over in). I have the saucer and neck completed, still drawing/planning the engineering hull and nacelles/pylons.

I'm looking forward to learning a LOT from the fine craftsmanship on this forum!

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

My dream prop is a really accurate recreation of Obi-Wan's A New Hope lightsaber. Note, this is all James Kenobi 1138's fault for that darned link he included to his stunning saber replica in his sig. I am quite enraptured with that prop now :love

Honored to be mentioned. Let me know if I can help with anything.

Welcome abord guys (and gals), lots of good stuff so far.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hello All!

I'm new to RPF, but not new to collecting. I mostly collect star wars lightsabers both prop and fx versions. I'm looking forward to looking over everyones work and collections here on rpf. I hope to as well pick up some more for my own collection along the way. For those who are also a member of the fx-saber forums also know me there by the same name.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hey everyone! Glad to finally be a member! My name is Corey, I've always been a Star Wars and Batman fan. Some costumes I'm working on are TDK Joker, Boba Fett, Jareth from Labyrinth and will be working on Dwight from the Office haha. Hope to get to know everyone and make some friends on here and gain some knowledge about the prop community. Thanks a lot!

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Greetings everyone-

I am so happy I found this place for replica collectors. Original prop forums are not always so friendly to us, so having a place like this means alot to me.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Finally! I'm in!
Hey guys, Vel here. Very happy to be on the boards! I dabble mostly in comic based props. Usually on the collecting side. Hopefully, after I finish setting up my page I can add some pics. Later

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Been popping in and out irregularly for a year or so--mainly as directed to specific threads or posts from Propnomicon. When that happened, though, I always seemed to spend the rest of the day browsin' and carousin', so when it was mentioned that registration was open I had to take the dive. I doubt I'll be able to contribute much (though there's always hope), but I could not pass up the opportunity to be able to ask questions and advice directly.

I've actually not been much into replica prop building as I've always seemed to manage to avoid acquiring the necessary information/designs, but hopefully I can move a bit more into that realm now--though I doubt I'll ever give up the "ancillary prop" (for lack of a better term) modding I try to do--making original pieces that fit into a particular 'verse.
