Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hello, everyone!
Wow, finally I'm in! I thought this day would never come. >.<
My name is Amanda, and I'm a prop novice. I'm a LOTR junkie so the majority of my props are from that collection, but I'm really looking into aquiring more Trek gear! My main focus is costuming.

I really look forward to getting to know everyone!
:D

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hey, I just got here. I haven't actually done any props or anything yet, I hope to start soon.

Right now Im into Green Lantern and following Blackest Night. So if someone can direct me to some green lantern stuff, please do.

Thanks.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hi all, I've been waiting for quite some time to join this forum. This forum had a lot of helpful tips and pics for reference. I do own some life size props and I love Ed hardy shirts. I've bought a few props here and there from online shops and some private collectors. I do make some props too at times. I'm into most props except Star Trek. Hope to learn and build relationships with the prop community. Thanks for letting me in on this great forum. :) - Zebedee

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hello everyone...brand new member here. I was looking around the site and see that this place is full of lots of good info and helpful members. I grew up on Star Wars and as a child always dreamed of owning both a Varder costume and a Stormtrooper costume. Now at 40 years old...with too many hobbies already, I figured I'd add this to my list of neat stuff to do.

I fist plan to build a ESB version of a Vader costume them likely do a Trooper as well. I already started the modifications to a Rubies helmet. With a lot of work and time, I'm planning to put together a nice costume.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

I wish I could afford the Sixteen 12 Sonic Screwdriver. I absolutely LOVE the display case they've made for it. But sadly, at current exchange rates, it's just too expensive for me to be able to get one. :unsure

Razor's Edge Collectibles (US based, not UK) had three selling for about $220, one of which I bought. They're sold out now. This price was about $80 cheaper than importing from UK sources.

And I can tell you've been reading the thread about the MFX Warehouse sonics and looking at the pictures posted there, because you've chosen to *ahem!* borrow my idea for displaying the MFX sonic! Same exact model of 1:24 scale model car display case and everything! ;)

Yes, I did see your post. :rolleyes I wasn't looking for exactly the same case, just something completely clear so that it doesn't obscure view of the relatively small prop. You're right about these cases being hard to find, though. I was hoping to find something that had some kind of lid or door for easier access.

I'm holding off on any custom plaques for now until I 'complete' the collection. :angel

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hello everyone, I discovered this site about 6 months ago and love it! My interest mainly relate to SCI-FI( Stars Wars, Star Trek, SG etc..) I am still working on finishing my Rebel Fleet Trooper (blaster is 90% done, still need to do holster and vest shirt).
I love just reading some of the posts from other members as I learn a lot seeing some of the work being done out there.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Another new guy saying hi. I've been lurking around here for the last few months and drooling over some of the stuff you guys can do. I'm mainly into sci-fi, scale models, and would like to get started in costuming. I want to say thanks to the admin for opening up registration, been like a kid in a candy store since I found this place :lol

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

WoodChuck here. thanks for the compliments. I am lloking forward to creating props here. Everyone here seems very motivated, and dedicated.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

My name is Josef, I'm from Austria/Europe and I collect original costumes and props from Star Trek. I work as a director for commercials and also as a photographer. I'm pretty happy with the stuff I've got but there's always "just this one more piece" sitting around the next corner.

When I started collecting costumes all I wanted to have was an original TNG 2-Piece Uniform, than I wanted to have just one costume from each show and suddenly I was after every variation that it is out there. The same is true for props, all I wanted was an original Tricorder Mark IX, once I had that I had to have the corresponding Phaser and so on ...

I was the photographer for both Battlestar Galactica auction catalogs, a show I also really love and learned to appreciate even more during the weeks I worked on the sets.

But I'm also very interested in replicas, often they look way better than the original and they are better to play with anyway.

I hope to contribute in the future whenever trek or bsg related threads come up and I'm shure I will find many new pieces for my collection around here.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

A2E here, or you can just call me Jamie. I like to create both replica props and originals for my own projects. Right now I am working on sculpting some masks from the anime/manga Bleach. I have never done anything quite like this before, so I may end up asking for some suggestions.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hi!

I'm a huge geek and over the years I've been a 'casual' costume/prop maker and I've consistently missed the registration periods for far too long, but made sure I caught this one!

I've already found a few pieces of useful information for things I want to work on over the next 12 months (SG-1 costume - something I've always meant to do, Captain Jack Harkness' sonic blaster, finish up my Ghostbusters proton pack, the timer from Sliders, some Discworld things, Iron Man helmet and ARC reactor - to name a few!) and I hope to give as much in to the forum as I can take out of it.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Just joined after waiting a few months. I've been wanting to get on here and help some of you guys who are doing Mad Max costumes (a small but growing group of costumers and prop makers).

My friend Karol and I (more Karol than me) have established ourselves as Mad Max costume and prop experts within that small fan community and we look forward to sharing our knowledge, as well as learning from the rest of you.

We'll be attending the HUGE Mad Max fan event coming up this weekend in the California desert. After that, I'll be posting tons of Mad Max related prop and costume photos. Hopefully it will inspire more of you to get in on the wasteland action.
Happy to be a new member.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Humble greetings from Norway. I'm RIvera or IC-2096.
A fellow 501stmember tipped me about the posibility to finally register to this forum. I am a long time Star Warsfan, and quite new to the prop scene I have a lot of things that I want to try and build myself, but little to no experience or tools for the job. So my small projects have been restricted to making some SW belt-boxes outa Altoid-tins.
I really enjoy seeing what people in here Is able to pull off, and I hope that I can Improve my own prop skills.
I really want to make my own Han Solo Dl44 (greedokiller) from A new hope. Because my painted HAsbro dl-44 Is a long way away from what I want.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Greetings everyone. I've been a huge fan of screen-used props and replicas (they sure are cheaper) for a long time but alas, only started acquiring the past few years. I was lucky enough to run across the RPF this year and through my Junkyard lurking, was able to deal with several RPF users - all with great results! I've dabbled with some prop making/weathering over the past year and I plan to step it up a few notches in 2010. I'll say one thing, building latex molds and pouring acrylic is MUCH harder than some of the tutorials make it look!

Anyway - here are a few shots of my "geek room". I like all things SciFibut as you can tell, I've really been into BSG recently :)

-Dave

Nice displays. Very impressive. Welcome!

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hi folks.

I've been waiting for registration to open for an age.

I'm a member of the Uk Garrison and a lifelong Star Wars fan.:love

So far I've built Stormtrooper armour and a 501st Legion Ep3 CLone trooper. I'm currently working on Clone Commander Bacara. I've also scratch build a DC15 blaster rifle and moddified a DL44 into a Merr-son Power 5.

What I would really love to build is a Lycan from Underworld, so I'm hoping that the expertise on this board will be able to help me.

Darren
