Limited Run Luke's ROTJ Static Yuma/ISYHCANL/Hero Variations Kit Parts Run (Sign up closed/In Production)

**Update**

It was my plan to create a 3D printed reveal card for my Hero version of this kit. Just for my own personal hilt. I was going to leave the card out of the kit, for people to either make/source their own.

Well, I just knocked up a very rough prototype for pricing purposes and got a quote on X25. The cost per card at that quantity is so low that I've decided to include it in the kit! I did originally intend on uploading the card to Shapeways once I'd modelled it, for people to print themselves if they wanted to, but I may as well get them printed and send out to everyone with the kit. :)

Once I have the final card modelled I'll post some pics and get the images in the OP updated.

Hopefully this last little sweetener will get those last few slots taken! (y)

Hope everyone's keeping safe and well out there!

Cheers,

Dave
Hi.
First of I congratulate for your great saber and now great kit offer.
What do you mean with a 3D printed reveal card? You mean the PCB inside the control box from the MoM version looks or the one from Indigo Gil he made for his Anakin Starkiller Hero?

Thanks and stay safe
Clement

Hi.

Thanks. I know the one you mean (which looks great). I was asked earlier this week if that one would fit my control box. The truth is I can't say for certain. The version I'm making to fit mine is the board only, and doesn't include the rails, which are separate. My control box has a ledge at each end for my card to sit on. This should leave room underneath for a small battery and the LEDs/wiring.

Cheers,

Dave

The one you are referring is mine, so thanks :) I can adapt it for your saber if you want. Just let me know.
BTW, i cant understand why you dont have 100 orders. This is the most accurate hero i have ever seen, EVER.

That's really appreciated, thanks! :) I had no idea that was yours. It looks fantastic! I can certainly give you the dimensions of my control box so you can do that if you like. I'm part way through working on my own now though, and enjoying the challenge to be honest. I have no problem with you adapting yours to fit though and making it available. It really does look great.

The outer dimensions of my hero box have remained the same, but my experiments this week have led me to alter the thickness of the front wall to make more room for my card. So all my internal dimensions are somewhat up in the air at the moment and subject to change  Once I have them set in stone and they've been approved for production (again) I'd be happy to share them.

Cheers!

Been following this thread closely and this is shaping up to be something truly special! With the reveal card included this is almost impossible to pass up on. Awesome work. (y)

Please add me to the list for one.

Thanks a lot. Very much appreciated :) That's really great! I'll get your name added to the list now.

I have a feeling we'll be getting this ordered very soon! :)

Cheers! (y)

Dave, I will like one please.
The ISYHCANL I had off you a few weeks back is REALLY nice. Love It.
It would be madness to miss this one.

**MAJOR UPDATE**

It's looking like we've hit 25+ on the interested list! The last remaining slot has just been taken via PM. This is really awesome news!

So excited to get this run moving!

It's gone 1am here in the UK, so I'm about to head off to bed! First thing in the morning though, I'll work my way down the list and contact everyone via PM to confirm orders.

If we definitely have 25+, I'll start accepting payments.

Obviously, with everything that's going on in the world I hope that everyone is able to have a little extra patience. I have been assured that manufacturing is up and running again, but I'm expecting things to be at least a little bit slower than they would be under normal circumstances.

I've had an enquiry about additional bodies for this kit too. So long as the total order for each individual part is over 25, there's no problem at all in adding additional body sections to your order. These can be added to your order for an additional £80.

Just adding the finishing touches to the circuit reveal card, which is looking great! I've updated the Hero box with thinner walls to accommodate this wider, screen accurate board (Which has passed manufacturing checks). I'll have the board finished tomorrow and get some pics posted before asking for any payments.

Big thank you to everyone who's expressed an interest in this run! I'm so excited to get working on my next Yuma build! Still room for more! 25 is only the minimum order. ;)

Anyway, I'm off to catch some shut eye! Just wanted to let everyone know that we are go for launch!!!

I'll be in touch at some point tomorrow. Until then, may the force be with you!

Cheers,

Dave

Now that the extra parts for the Hero are included, count me in please.
Hi SenorChang.

Hope you're keeping safe and well! I don't know if you've seen, but the run now has the 25+ people needed to go ahead :). I'm just in the process of sending out confirmation messages via PM. I'm not able to start a private conversation with you though unfortunately. Is there any chance that you could start one with me?

Thanks,

Dave

Dear Dave,

I have been following up on the updates on you listing and like to say that I am very excited that the project is a go.

I confirm that I will purchase this. I like to add an additional boday and a Slothfurnace card. However, any chance to add a tri-ring, copper rails, black button, and a set of triangular led set to the 2nd body? Please let me know what this additional accessories will cost.

Kind Regards,

Eric

Hi Eric.

That's great, Thanks!

With regards to extra parts, what I've said is that I'll include any addition parts needed at no extra cost (excluding the bodies and the cards).

The only thing is, if you're wanting to build 2X Heros, you're going to need an additional hero box and lazer cut plate too. It's essentially two full kits. I'd have to charge for the machined/lazer cut parts, but I can include the rails/tri-ring/fixings/etc for free.

So, additional parts would be as follows:

Extra body = £80
Extra Box = £20
Extra Hero Plate = £20
Extra Card = £10

I can only offer these in addition to a full kit obviously as we still need 25 of every part to be ordered.

I'll make sure anyone who orders extra parts gets all the additional fixings and greeblies they need for whichever versions they're making.

Hope that sounds ok.

Cheers,

Dave

**Update**

Hi Everyone. Just a quick update on the reveal card for the Hero version.

HERO REVEAL CARD.png

CARD_GIF.gif

The external dimensions of the control box remain the same, but I did make the walls thinner in order to accommodate a screen accurate card which is the correct width. I've had the new box checked for manufacturability, and it's good to go! :)

Here's a new assembly animation:

You might have noticed the rails have altered slightly too. These will now be 3D printed also. The stock that I have is not close enough to the original prop for my liking, so I'll be getting those printed as seen here.

The confirmations are flooding in, with no-one dropping out so far. With everything that's going on in the world, its understandable that people are busy, and not everyone has email alerts set up. With this in mind, I'll hang on until next week before I start taking payments. This gives anyone else who'd like to jump on board a chance to as well.

**25 isn't the limit on this run**. It's only the minimum order in order to get them manufactured at the stated price. Based on the number of confirmations, I'll definitely be going ahead next week. Just want to give everyone a chance to confirm.

I'm so excited to finally get this run moving. Another big thank you to everyone involved!

Cheers,

Dave

I've been asked if I wouldn't mind running a few last minute accuracy checks on the Hero box.

What I've found is quite interesting, so I thought I'd share it here...

So I was asked if I could check my model against this reference image:

Comparison_Reference.png

Although it might not look like it at first glance (because it does appear to be sticking up) The back rail is not the one that has come away from the box on this reference. It's the front one, along with the black button. Both are sticking out, away from the box slightly and are hanging down.

This becomes much more obvious when trying to line up the model to the photo in 3DS Max. It makes it tricky to say the least! Life is made much easier once you've pinpointed the areas of the actual prop that are out of alignment, so you can ignore them when trying to get your model lined up. The back rail is running completely parallel to the hilt, and to the bottom edge of the box, so that's the one that I've focused on to get everything lined up.

This is what my kit will look like if it is put together with everything in its correct place:

Comparison_02.png

This doesn't match up to the reference photo now though, so just as a final test, I've replicated the broken front rails and button. This now lines up perfectly with the reference:

Hopefully this demonstrates the accuracy of the parts. :)

This was actually a great exercise, as I have nudged a few things here and there on the model. It's now even more accurate than it was before, so I really do appreciate the challenge.

Cheers,

Dave
